Gunrunning in Central America..
Interesting article I stumbled over in Strategy Page..

December 20, 2009: As Colombia has turned the tide on drug gangs and leftist rebels in the last decade, they have collected thousands of weapons used by the enemy. Serial numbers were checked, to find out where all these weapons (nearly 100,000 so far) came from. While 17 percent of the weapons came from the United States, these were mostly pistols, shotguns and rifles. The assault rifles (RPGs, mortar shells, grenades) mostly came from Eastern Europe. Out of all weapons captured, 18 percent came from Bulgaria and 13 percent from Russia. Almost all the weapons from these countries were assault rifles, mostly AK-47s.

Interesting!! Seems like the guns smuggled in from the US, where the "least deadly" ones.. And please note, the reference in the article is for REAL AK47's....Not the bullshit look-alikes Sarah Brady and the main stream media would have you believe is an "AK47".

2. No need to go to Texas..
When you have the Chinese more than willing to sell you a shipping container full of them...

LIKE DID HAPPEN SEVERAL YEARS AGO....
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,135999,00.html

a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent who also posed as a mobster, had persuaded the brokers to smuggle 2,000 fully automatic Chinese-government-made AK-47s into the U.S.
Last week the charade ended with an explosion of headlines, as Customs and ATF agents arrested seven people for illegal gunrunning. U.S. Attorney Michael Yamaguchi described the sting operation as the largest seizure of fully operational automatic weapons in U.S. history. The diplomatically sensitive source of the guns: two state-owned arms manufacturers in China, Poly Technologies and Norinco.

But Brady, and Bloomberg, and even Eric Holder, would have you belive that all these machine guns come from American Gunshows

4. The Brady Bunch will still find a way to blame America
Next thing you know, they'll unearth a birth certificate for Mikhail Kalashnikov showing he was actually from the SE United States so they can further "prove" guns are all America's fault.

3. In Africa, a real AK-47 can be purchased for a chicken.
At least according to the UN.

http://www.un.org/ecosocdev/geninfo/afrec/vol15no4/154arms.htm

In some parts of Africa, a Soviet-designed AK-47 assault rifle, coveted for its simplicity and firepower, can be purchased for as little as $6, or traded for a chicken or sack of grain.

It wouldn't be too hard to buy up a bunch of them in Africa and smuggle them to wherever. Why pay U.S. prices for a semi-auto version when you can get the real thing for $6 plus shipping?

It is amazing that we don't see a flood of those here in the states. It appears that there really isn't a demand for them on the underground economy. On the other hand, how many ordinary Americans have to money to feed ammo to one of those beasts. Full-auto is a great way to turn a lot of ammo into noise in a real hurry.
