Investigators: Woman beaten to death during home invasion
HOUSTON—A 34-year-old woman was beaten to death in front of her family during a home invasion in Montgomery County Monday morning, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to investigators, Lisa Lynette Whitt-Ulloa, her 26-year-old husband and her 18-year-old daughter were all in the home when two masked men barged in.

Investigators said the men entered through an unlocked door and surprised the family in the living room.

The suspects, who were armed with what appeared to be baseball bats, threatened, bound and assaulted the victims.

Whitt-Ulloa’s injuries proved fatal.
Investigators believe robbery was the motive, but it was not clear if anything was taken from the home.

No firearms used. They were just after "stuff". They did not follow the gun-grabbers mantra of "just take stuff" and leave.

2. Read more in the Gungeon
Many of the anti-RKBA types spout that criminals mostly just take what they eant and leave without hurting, maiming, or killing their victims.

Epic fail for the "the were there to just take stuff" crowd.

Crooks won't harm you, just give in, you have no right to defend yourself mantra.. What about the crooks family bullshit...

For an example, see these posts..

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=118&topic_id=276474&mesg_id=276484

That poster has more feelings for the burglar, than the people he was trying to commit felonies on.. It's as if the burglar himself where posting.

OP is about a guy in a wheelchair who answers the door, home invader wearing ski-mask barges in
knocking guy in wheelchair over, guy in wheelchair had .45 in his lap, shot and killed home invader.

Now here are some choice responses:

And I'll wonder why somebody would bother wearing a mask when they decided to rob somebody else, if they were planning to kill them. I mean, surely the mask wasn't just a fashion accessory they put on when they get up in the morning.

But maybe I've got something wrong here. Maybe I've missed the bit where it's right and good to kill somebody for trying to steal your stereo ... that death penalty stuff, I do just have a hard time getting my head around it ...

...but reasonable grounds for a reasonable belief that there was no way to avert serious bodily harm than by shooting and killing?

...So at the end of it all, he would have been maybe a little bruised from the fall, and they would have been gone with some of his stuff.

Here is another that is really fun: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=118x274952#274955
OP Summary: The homeowner told investigators that a man knocked on the door asking to use the telephone. As that man came inside, another man wearing a mask entered as well. The homeowner said he retrieved a gun and shot the first man.

Now look at post #13
The post said the guy shot the first guy which I assume means the first guy in, who was the very one who, according to the post asked to use the phone. The post states the other guy, meaning the one with the mask, was still being hunted. So the question is, why did he shoot the guy who needed the phone instead of the guy with the mask. Not enough practice? Or, was it indeed because the phone guy was intending to run up the phone bill by calling a 900 number as you suggest? Either way, I hope the next time I ask to barrow someone's phone, the guy doesn't unload his 357 on me before asking some questions. By the way, did the post ever mention if the masked guy had a weapon or not?

There are lots of posts in the gungeon in which the poster claims that the violent criminal was really harmless and should not have been shot.

24. I'll never forget what one jail guard told me when I worked for that jail...
as a part-time temp: "Why do criminals stick-up a place with little or no money? It's not the money. They are looking for someone to smash or kill so they can talk it up big when they get back to their buddies. That's how we can catch them again: even their friends get tired of their stinking mouth and call the cops."

17. It does sound like there could be more to the story
I can think of a couple of sick possibilities that are perhaps as likely as a robbery gone bad... :(

(Or perhaps I just read the same novels you do.)

8. This family's trauma is unfortunate,
but it is a small price to pay to ensure the safety of violent home invading felons. These precious thugs rarely want to do any harm, they usually just want to take your stuff under threat of violence to you and your loved ones. This beating death is an anomaly; they overstepped the felon's code of honor. They should of course be caught and punished, but this rare mistake should not alarm or mislead the public.

You can still trust your local felons.

Gun proliferation and CCW lead inevitably to increased murders (the latest FBI data showing a sharp decline is flawed and should be ignored). We need Canadian style gun control now!

10. You're right, of course,
It probably wouldn't have occured to them to break glass with their clubs/bats to gain entry.

And I agree that guns are useless against clubs.

It's amazing how those gun nuts can't see the obvious things we see!

15. Of course it wouldn't have helped
magic bats to knock away bullets are part of the thieves' stock in trade.

OTOH, a good, sturdy whistle would have stopped the intruders in their tracks.:sarcasm:

25. In the Land of the Barking Spider, perhaps...
But what I usually see from hard-line gun-controllers is a rather wide-eyed, bated-breath (a little too much so?) defense of some of the most brutal spittle-flying thugs that ever romanced a phony sentimentalist.

The other thing I heard as a jail employee. From a career thug: "All the ladies love an outlaw" and "I hate wusses -- even when they get me off."

26. Best laugh of the day, so far.
I had to call my wife in to read this thread, and post #9. She was amazed that anyone would claim that a gun would not have helped in that situation.

Maybe the poster thinks the home invaders would have used their super ninja skills to take the gun away from the resident.

Wait. I got it. The invaders were going to use Matrix style time distortion to dodge the resident's bullets.

Donut Shop Owner Gunned Down
By ELLEN GOLDBERG

Dallas Police said they are searching for two-masked gunmen who shot and killed a donut shop owner Monday morning.
Police said Kee-Sun Chung, 46, put every dollar he had into his donut shop on East Ledbetter Drive, where he was gunned down.
"He was a really nice man," said 10 year-old customer Kente Greer.
Greer said Chung used to give him free donut holes.
Police said Kee-Sun Chung, 46, put every dollar he had into his donut shop on East Ledbetter Drive, where he was gunned.

"I don't know how he made a profit," Kente's father, Kente Greer Sr. said.
Surveillance video shows two masked robbers storm the store shortly after 7 a.m as Chung stands behind the counter with a Santa Claus hat, pleading with the gunmen not to kill him.

Police said the robbers were in the store a total of 17 seconds before they fled, empty-handed. Police said Chung dialed 911, but died before he was able to ask for help.
Detectives hope releasing surveillance video of the crime will lead to some clues.

Chung purchased the cameras this past summer after two robberies at his donut shop.
Police said Chung hoped the cameras would scare criminals away.
Chung leaves behind a wife, two children and hundreds of loyal customers.

Schepps Dairy is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

22. Events like this one
make me want to get an ax and go medieval on people, really? Why? What possible purpose could anyone have for committing this crime? Why would anyone want to murder a guy like that for no gain at all? They didn't end the cold war, they didn't bring any major conflict to an end, nothing that would even begin to allow someone to try and justify what they did. They didn't even steal anything from him! What the fuck is wrong with people?

And people wonder why most people support the principle that a person causing no harm to anyone else has every right to defend their own life, even if it means ending the life of their attacker.

With a gun he might have had a chance. Without one, he had no chance.

28. At least most Americans apparently believe we should all have freedom to defend ourselves
by the most effective means available:

From the notoriously dishonest 'mayors against illegal guns' very own poll:

“Law-abiding Americans should have the freedom to choose how to protect themselves, based on their personal situation. No local, state or federal government should dictate this decision.”

92% of NRA members and 83% of non_nra members agree
