3. I like it. I am going to send it to some of my friends and relatives.
We believe in being able to defend ourselves, instead of throwing ourselves on the mercy of violent felons.

How will you defend yourself if you should be attacked?

It's probably really good.

****

I should have said read it. I did. It was well written and had an important message which I agree with.

Without your scathing review I might have missed it. Thanks.

5. Dickens must be rolling over in his grave.... to see the message of
his Christmas Carol so bastardized. Regardless of how one feels about gun rights, this is a revolting exploitation. I'm sure your friends/family just LOVE getting your emails if this is representative. :eyes:

6. I think all the lining is gone from Dickens'
casket from all the spinning after Scrooged and a movie a roommate of mine once had, Christmas Carol (rated x)

10. Sense of humour been surgically removed?
I thought the whole thing was hilarious, on point, and certainly a much better message than warping the holiday for commercial purposes.

15. Actually Christmas Carol as written had a very non-commercial
message. To conflate someone's obsession with guns with the moral story of doing good towards others, is hardly amusing.

18. People like yourself would remove people's ability to defend themselves.
You would render us helpless against violent felons. In doing that, you would do harm. The story is about stopping Scrooge from hurting people by taking away one of their rights.

21. In all of your post in this thread you are hostile to gun owners.
Instead of discussing, you make insults. Therefore it is a reasonable conclusion that your position is anti-self defense.

I futher note that you have refused to answer any of the questions I have asked you.

23. Your attitude towards everyone on this thread...
who expresses disdain for this distasteful piece is reflective of a defensive attitude that knows no bounds. Why would anyone wish to discuss with you under those circumstances. You jump to conclusions and become instantly argumentative. One can appreciate your defense of gun rights without supporting your defense of this very distasteful article.

attack and insult gun owners.

29. I was not refering to the original story intent...
but to how it has been used as a marketing device over the past few decades.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

12. Psychos who think guns make them free
You want to show me how free you are? Show me your library card, not a semi-auto with a 30 round clip.

Insanity.

13. My guns give me the ability to resist a violent felon.
Edited on Fri Dec-25-09 05:29 PM by GreenStormCloud
Somehow, I don't think such a felon will be impressed by a library card, or by an Amazon account.

BTW - A few years ago, my wife used her gun to save her own life. She was about to be violently attacked but when the thug saw that she was armed and about to shoot him, he gave up the idea and ran away. I don't think she would be able to enjoy the benefits of a free society if she were dead.

Is there anything in your life you feel as strongly about as your guns? Really... anything?

That this is the one subject you find it necessary to post and defend on Christmas of all days, I have to wonder....

31. Library card?
Heck. Even here in little ol' backwoods Kentucky in a county with a population of under 30,000 we don't have library cards anymore unless specifically requested. We've got those newfangled computer things and numeric keypads just like the Piggly Wiggly has for their discount cards. In which backward area do you live that still has library cards?

We're even progressive enough here that we have no gun registration, constitutional preemption of local gun laws, and the right to open carry without a permit.

In case you're wondering, I haven't shot anyone this week.
