2. There's at least one error in this article.
"and is the registered owner of a .22-caliber Ruger."

We don't have registration of firearms in this state. Not even to accompany a CPL application.

Stop saying CCW, it doesn't apply in this state. We have CPL's.

If the article is accurate, this guy is probably going to go to jail for a while, as it should be. Based on the description, he had no justification to fire. Though, things aren't always as the newspaper article claims.

4. Have you
ever typed these words, "things aren't always as the newspaper article claims." When Dave or one of the other good shooting posters posted a news article?

5. Yes.
In fact, I've pointed out many of the justfiable shootings or justifiable homicides may have been prompted by criminal activity, such as a drug deal gone wrong.

Now, not that a drug dealer doesn't have the right to defend himself, but being in the comission of a felony, if someone dies, you get felony murder charges.

I always suggest caution, even when the article seems cut and dried, and a strong case for self defense.
Though lately, I haven't been responding to every single thread on both sides, because frankly, these anecdotes are useless. Both the ones that shed a 'positive light' on guns, and the negative.

6. Purely out of curiosity,
could the writer have been referring to the ppwk. (what is it, 4470?) that we fill out when we purchase a gun? It's not "registration," of course, and I totally support writers being as accurate as possible (particularly around this subject, which raises such high tempers, and which therefore necessitates specific language), but I can see how this would make sense to an author trying to communicate to the general, non-gun purchasing public.

And yeah, assuming that the rest of the article is accurate, this jackass needs to go to jail, for a LONG time. Lethal force for self defense- I get it. I support it.

But this was nothing more than premeditated murder.

:nopity: (in re: the shooting. I am very sorry that he had to suffer being burglarized multiple times.)

And just as a p.s., what the fuck is wrong with people? Whenever I read the comments attached to these linked articles I'm invariably sickened; and reminded how lucky we all are to have a forum such as this one to discuss these issues in. Even in the most heated flame wars I've never heard (read) the kind of shit-posing-as-thought as I often find attached to the actual article.

:grr:

3. And your point is?
There are about 5 million CCW holders. A few of them will become evil. But the overall record of CCWers is far better than that of the general population.

7. The article comment dated 20 Nov, 1112 hrs...

pretty much sums up the situation very well.

But don't worry, no-one needs guns because the police will be there to protect you. Whatever.

Of course, the very next comment has a good point as well.

8. You are still safer next to a CPL holder than
A police officer
Your neighbor (assuming no CPL)
Your car
