Police: Bar owner shoots convicted killer from Belmont in self-defense
A shootout at a west Charlotte bar injured three, including Mark Bowens, a convicted killer from Belmont who police say initiated the Sunday night shooting.

The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. Sunday just across the Gaston County line at the Get-A-Way Lounge at 9305 Wilkinson Blvd., according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Police say Mark Anthony Bowens, 37, and Rodney Bowens, 45, both of Belmont, were kicked out of the nightclub and then returned a short time later with at least one handgun and started shooting.

Bar owner Roosevelt Hinton, 67, of Charlotte, grabbed a handgun and fired back in self-defense, shooting Mark Bowens in the head and abdomen, police said.

Police found Mark Bowens on the pavement outside the club.

1. Was this the start of a mass killing?
It appears to be. But he was stopped before it could be a mass killing. So the antis will not allow this as a mass killing stopped by a legal gun owner.

The shooter was a convicted killer, so it was illegal for him to have a gun. But he didn't care about that law, did he?

7. What permit?
The article does not say that he had a CCW. He was on his own property, so he didn't need a permit.

8. Yes, they can.
Had the bar owner not shot the criminal, innocent people would have been injured or killed.

I don't think the criminal was there to buy or sell Girl Scout Cookies... at gun point...

Pretty simple, really.

11. It's probably the result of mind poisoning by TV shows like CSI
Male detective: "We found the murder weapon. It's a nickel-plated .357."

Female detective: "Did the suspect have a permit for it?"

12. In CSI's defense...
The City of Las Vegas does require handguns to be registered, even though the state of Nevada does not.

The thing with most cop shows is that they are set in large cities, and large cities are more likely to requires permits, registration, etc.
