Queensland bans glasses at 8 bars
http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/stubbies-glasses-banned-at-queensland-pubs-and-clubs-20100305-pmeh.html

Eight Queensland pubs and clubs have been slapped with total bans on the use of glass - including stubbies - as the state government shifts its alcohol-fulled violence campaign up a gear.

Liquor licensing authorities initially warned 77 venues across the state could be stripped of their right to serve drinks in glassware after compiling police figures and late-night trading hours.

All 77 were issued with ''show cause'' notices last year, forcing them to justify why they should be allowed to keep glass on the premises.

Is this the path we really want to head down? We've had posters wanting to ban handguns, "assault weapons", all guns, etc.

I could see knives being next (google 'UK knife ban'), then what.. beer bottles and glasses??

As one commenter to the story put it, "im not going to drink my beer out of a sippy cup" {sic}

Britain too. And to think that's the same society that, a few generations back, had rules regulating the effects of airstrikes on balls in play on golf courses.

5. It's the logical progression of failing to address the causes of violence, and fixating on the tools
As long as certain people keep wanting to hurt each other, they'll use whatever's to hand. Ban guns, they'll use knives; ban knives, they'll use bottles, glass and pool cues. Ban those, they'll find something else to beat each other with.

6. They have glass violence
and they complain about our guns. Next they will take away aluminum cans.
I might be a bit concerned about being shot, but I have no fear of a flagon of ale, sans ale.
