Gun stolen from man as he sat in his car
OK, anyone who's read my posts clearly knows I'm fully on the side of the 2A and no gun control. That doesn't mean I have my head in the sand and ignore articles that I don't like, however.

This one certainly caught my eye:

What kind of idiot doesn't notice someone sitting in his car before he gets in? I'm thinking there's a lot more to this story than is being reported....

Gun stolen from man as he sat in his car
By Laura Misjak | The Flint Journal
March 05, 2010, 8:43PM
FLINT, Michigan — A man told police that two men stole his gun from him outside of a party store located on the 1000 block of Dupont Street, according to police.

The man said he went into the store at about 3 p.m. Monday and left shortly later, and entered his vehicle. He said a man he did not know wearing a black hat was sitting in his back seat and put what he believed was a gun up to his neck.

A second man, with a beard and wearing a red coat, came up to his window and started checking his pockets, he said.

The two made off with his .40-caliber Glock pistol, according to police reports. The suspects fled in an unknown direction.

5. He needed a gun plus situational awareness.
All of us gunnies here preach that you have to aware of your surroundings and what is happening around you for a gun to do you any good. We call it "situational awareness".

6. For the record, this is a possibility.
I think I have pretty good situational awareness. You don't survive 20 years of heavy military aviation maintenance relatively unscarred unless you are alert to your surroundings.

That said, I've had people sneak up on me as a joke, or had so many things going on at once that I lost track of something happening literaly right beside me. No-one can be 100% aware, 100% of the time.

This, however, is not a valid argument for or against firearms, any more so than it would be a valid argument for or against civilian ownership and use of cars.

7. Calling BS on his story
Sounds like a drug deal, or illegal firearms deal gone bad. I refuse to believe you dont notice someone in your car.
