GUNS by Victoria Jackson

Truly MOBA-worthy illustration:

....It just lies there, like it’s sleeping.

I bought it in 1986 when Richard Ramirez was on a killing spree in Los Angeles and I had a new baby. You know, the guy who used his victim’s blood to paint pentagrams on their walls? They said he liked yellow houses. I lived in a yellow house in Laurel Canyon. It was hidden in the trees far away from other houses so no one would even hear us scream....

Let me be so unkind as to point out here that Richard Ramirez was already in jail by 1986. Anyway, onward through the
madness:
I’m Paranoid

I’m paranoid now
So very paranoid now
Ever since I got held up in a parking lot
By a big, mean man with a short, black gun you see
My attitude has changed from naive, trusting one
To “I’m-gonna-get-you-before-you-get-me”
Cause I’m paranoid now
So very paranoid now

Daddy doesn’t have to give me lectures anymore
About what weirdos do to you if you don’t lock your door
I’ve got a small revolver, some poison, and sharp keys
So if you need to tell me something please…
Tell it to my phone machine
Cause I’m very paranoid now...

Remember, class:

All gun owners are not right-wingers, but some right-wingers are gun owners.
All crazies are not right-wingers, but some right-wingers are crazy.
All right-wing gun owners are not crazy, but some gun-owning right-wingers are industrial-strength crazy...

1. I'm having trouble
Connecting the article with right-wing people. There are plenty on the left too.

Gun ownership is not a partisan issue. If one thing could unite left and right, as far as gun owners are concerned, it's the issue of gun ownership and the right to carry.

I fail to see why you're trying to make this issue partisan.

2. The validity of a political viewpoint does not depend on the sanity of the most extreme proponents
Search around the net and you will come across some more of VJ's political ideas.

And just to show that I'm ecumenical in my quest for nuttiness about guns:

Not all gun control proponents think Stanley Kubrick helped fake the Apollo moon landings:

But some people who think the Apollo moon landings were fake support gun control:

6. Your view of Marxism isn't determined by your view of Joseph Stalin, or that of this guy...

10. My epiphany came in 9th grade
when the VP beat my ass with an admonishment not to skip before 4th period roll call , or they wouldn't get paid for me (for that day ) . I had been angry and confused , going through my own version of teen angst . Why must I show up on time , only to lay around all day ? At that moment it was all crystal - I was their rice bowl . This was the collectivist business model , show up and get paid . It was no small coincidence that same year I saw my first drug dog , read my history teachers copy of Gulag Archipelago , and caught him reeking of weed . He was cool as hell , so I was discreet about it . He taught me a lot , but not as much as that whippin' did . 30 years of dealing with the IRS , comptroller , DOT , city works , county etectec allowed me to further distill my unified string theory of govt from "follow the money" to " it doesnt matter" . How can you starve 10 or 20 million people to death or burn up the engine in a county truck and still keep your job ? Because it doesn't matter !

My only exposure to the Birchers was during this period , when I remember reading a few panels about them in the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers wherein they put MDMA in the punchbowl .

3. Did I miss a memo?
We should take anything from the ENTERTAINMENT industry seriously?

Since when?

8. Just having a little fun with the reality-challenged.
I can acknowledge the First Amendment rights of Larry Flynt and Fred Phelps without personally respecting them very much (or in Phelps' case, at all).
