I read a zombie book which some of you pro-gun folk may enjoy. |
|
Edited on Mon Mar-22-10 11:48 PM by ZombieHorde
The book is named Day by Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne. The author is a soldier and seems to be very knowledgeable on the subject of guns.
The book is a fictional journal of a Naval officer who goes AWOL when a devastating zombie plague breaks out all over the world. The officer meets another survivor who was an engineer before the plague; the two come up with some creative survival techniques which are fun to read about. The officer is a conservative, but this adds to the story; he gets the "real news" from survivalist websites. The writing is just average, but the survivalist aspects and the journal style of book are really fun.
I look forward to the upcoming sequel.

Why should I take the time and trouble to actually read about zombies? I'll wait for the movie. Watching a movie is far less work. Zombies are not exactly a thing I worry about that much.

3. My daughter is teaching a class in HS about the coming Zombie Apocalypse |
|
She's an English teacher in a magnet high school in Chicago and has been using books like the Jane Eyre Zombie book, Zombie Survival Guide and "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter" as required reading along with the original Jane Eyre as extra credit. They have to write papers on things like finding food and water in a post apocalyptic urban environment.
This is the second semester she's taught it and the class is over subscribed for next semester by over 100%, to the point where the department head is asking her to do a second class on it to handle the overflow.
She's got a lot of kids reading that wouldn't dream of reading Jane Eyre without Zombies otherwise.

I recently read "World War Z" by Max Brooks. A unique POV on the war that nearly ended mankind. I very much enjoyed the book.

If you look at my license to carry, under the "reason to carry" I put Zombies.
Simple rules...
A 30-06 bolt action when they are 700+ yards out A 5.56 when they are 25 to 700 out A shotgun when you run out of 5.56 and they are within 25 yards A pistol when you run out of ammo for the shotgun The last round in the pistol is for yourself...

6. What type of zombies are we talking about? |
|
Romero? 28 Days Later?
Slow zombies no problem. Fast fuckers "gulp" and don't get me started on Left 4 Dead zombies.

I mean, if the reanimated can move that fast in two feet of snow, what are they capable of on hard, dry ground?

I am reading a book right now which the zombies begin as the 28 Days Later type, alive and running, then they turn into the Romero shambling type when they die.
