3. didn't notice you asking the person who posted |
|
about the attempted carjacking what the point was. You were just sort of happy about what the gun accomplished. Thought a little more balance about what guns accomplish would be a good thing in the forum

5. That was because the person posting about the car jacking made a comment on the story. |
|
"Gee, the BG had the drop on the would be victim but still lost. I thought that never happened?"
You see some argue around here that it is a bad idea to carry a firearm because the bad guy will get the drop on you faster than you could react, then boom your dead and the bad guy has your gun.
So since the OP had a point why would we ask them what their point was?

10. We get plenty of "balance," thanks |
|
It depends on the week, but some weeks there are plenty of stories of unintentional and criminal shootings posted by people who assume that the pro-RKBA types on this board are utterly oblivious to the fact that firearms, when mishandled, are capable of causing severe physical trauma.
Understand this: we get it. That's why we observe Cooper's Four Rules, and if we have children in the house, keep our guns in safes, etc.
Moreover, anecdotes like these do not present a comprehensive picture of "what guns accomplish" any more than posting a few stories of motor vehicles provides "balance about what cars accomplish."

I wonder if the police will look into that a little bit.

6. Negligent failure to observe Cooper's 4 Rules |
|
Particularly the ones about not letting the muzzle cover anything you're not willing to destroy, and keeping your finger off the damn trigger. Why is it so difficult for some people to keep a gun pointed at a safe backstop (like the fucking ground, if you're not above ground level) while loading or unloading?
