Police: Home Invasion Leads To Deadly Shooting
http://www.wbaltv.com/news/22979389/detail.html

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. --
<snip>
Officers responded at about 5:45 a.m. Sunday to a home in the 4200 block of Chapel Road.

Detectives discovered that the homeowner, William Bozman Sr., 68, was asleep when he was awakened by a suspect who entered his bedroom.

Cook pointed a handgun at Bozman and demanded money, police said.

Bozman retrieved a handgun he had nearby and pointed it at Cook, ordering him to drop his gun, according to police.

Cook then advanced toward Bozman, who fired several shots, police said.

No charges filed so far, but Maryland has neither statutory Castle Doctrine nor 'No duty to retreat' provisions.

3. But but but
the poor lad was only there to ask for some money so he could go buy his momma the operation that would save her life and the only reason he had a gun was so he could protect himself from the evil capitislist homeowner.

6. yeah, nice charactiture of a liberal
only off by a few pounds of common sense - or perhaps a complete lack of understanding what a progressive viewpoint might be. Honestly, you can make more headway by not demonizing and belittling those who disagree with your views.

11. Uh, who were you talking about in your post?
I read it as the stereotypical gun control opponent as portrayed on any gun forum. Why, who did you intend that person to be?

13. Okey-Dokey
complete with "evil capitislist homeowner" tags, most often used as a demonetization of liberals. My mistake. Comforting instead you were only rejoicing in the death of criminal. phew.

14. Not rejoicing in the death
of the criminal, rejoicing in the life of the homeowner,

My use of evil capitilist homeowner goes to some of the people who think that a person doesn't have the right to defend his/her property and should just meekly step aside and let the criminal do what they are there to do

16. Ah, so you weren't mocking the criminal
You were mocking those who disagree with your stance on gun control. Wow, see how easy that was and how we could have avoided about 10 posts if you would have just said so?

My only point here, being a fellow gun rights kinda guy, is that you get no where by demonizing, on board where many of those folks reside, by mocking them. Hold yourself to a higher standard.

24. My problem
is certain people on this forum who think that if you are accosted by a criminal, you don't have the right to defend yourself with force. I have stated time and time again that I carry because I refuse to become a victim and if some asshole of a criminal leaves me absolutly no choice I will defend myself up to and including lethal force, but if I can defuse the situation without lethal force, so much the better

20. Good idea.
I was involved the other night in a gun discussion and the 2 people who treated my opinion with respect gave me a good understanding of gun issues. The 2 who didn't (you know who you are) made me more anti gun than I usually am. Civility helps if you want to get your point across.

23. Bingo
Why folks want to come on a progressive board and malign progressives on this issue, even if they disagree with them is beyond stupid. It helps their cause none and their time would be better spent in the likes of AR-17 or some other forum that I won't give bandwidth to.

29. Being a gun-rights advocate and being progressive aren't mutually exclusive.
In fact, quite the opposite. I think it could be argued that gun-rights supporting Dems are the true progressives in that they haven't succumbed to the emotion-based echo chamber that the faux "defenders of life" have.

We've been discussing Alaska's proposed removal of the 'duty to retreat', this topic is apropos of that.

Not sure what you're going on about..

21. Always nice to hear from the pro-criminal element.
Yes, the homeowner should have put his gun down and had a discussion with the fellow about what social factors drove him to a life of crime. :eyes:

15. Assume you walked into someone's bedroom when he was asleep...
and you pointed a handgun at him and demanded money.

You get shot.

Assume you walk out into traffic on purpose and a car runs over you.

Who do you blame?
