Teen shot by classmate in NY police station
COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – Authorities say a teenage gunman in upstate New York chased a high school classmate into a police station, wounded him, and then shot himself in the chin.

The shooting happened at about 3 p.m. Friday in a station next to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

Police say the 16-year-old gunman was hospitalized with a serious wound. The other teen, also 16, was hit in the arm. He was treated and released.

Authorities say it began when the gunman got out of a car with a rifle and began chasing a group of youths who had been walking near the Hall of Fame Library.

1. It was already illegal for the teen to have a gun.
I suppose you want to make it doubleplusillegal.

8. This didn't happen in NYC...or even anywhere close.
Signed,
An annoyed former upstater who hates it whenever a news story mentions "New York," people automatically assume that it's about something going on in New York City.

10. Not in their job description
They will investigate a crime. But it's not the job of the police to protect people. Except for those specific few for which officers have been assigned that task. e.g. Governor, Mayor, etc.

9. Close police stations immediately - for the children
Obviously having building full of armed people embolden children to shoot each other.

The only solution is to close these obvious magnets for violence to save the teen agers.
