I'm not, and no one else should have to, either IMO. I was a night clerk in West Palm Beach years ago and was not about to bet my life that an armed robber would just want the cabbage and leave me around. As you can see, sometimes they don't care to leave witnesses:

Two Circle K clerks dead after robbery in Greenacres

Two Circle K clerks were shot to death during a robbery Friday night in Greenacres, and Stuart police arrested two Palm Beach County men in a separate string of armed robberies early Saturday morning in Boynton Beach, Jupiter and Stuart.

In the Greenacres robbery, two white or Hispanic men shot to death Circle K employees Ralson Mueller and Michael Dean Bennett at about 11:40 p.m., Greenacres police said. Police arrived in response to an alarm and found the men dead from gunshot wounds.

Surveillance video released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office shows a masked robber aiming a handgun at one of the clerks, who hands over a cash drawer. A second clerk crouches on the floor behind a shelf. The 30-second video doesn't show the workers being shot....

1. I'm shocked, shocked I say!
I have it on good authority that a criminal who gets the money he wants will never harm his victim. A wise ex-lawyer from Canada explained it all to me. Violent felons--armed robbers, muggers, rapists, home invaders and the like--are gentlemen of the highest order, the cream of societal morals. They wouldn't dream of hurting anyone.

You are threatening my whole worldview!

There must be some other explanation. Come to think of it, the tape doesn't show these fine gentlemen actually shooting the victims. Probably they were framed by some concealed carry permit holders. Yeah... that sounds more like it. And there's obvious motive. Those CCW types are always slandering their betters.

That's the ticket!

4. The guns
emboldened the videographer to doctor the tapes in a massive NRA plot to arm all store clerks with AK47's so they can shoot children when they come in to buy candy.

It's really quite simple.

2. Anyone who tries to rob you
sacrifices a lot of credibility. If I couldn't trust a robber to not rob me, I wouldn't trust him to not kill me.

5. While the West Palm cops were nice, they didn't have a substation on our premises.

The entire night crew was armed, the supervisor knew some of the local cops from Shooters' World (his usual range), and we made it known that we were armed. No robberies during the several years that I worked there- though places all around
us were hit.

6. Well, as long as none of the robbers were shot and their civil rights were respected...
Then all who frown upon the RKBA can rest easy tonight knowing that at least this crime spree wasn't interrupted by a defensive use of firearms.

8. I have 2 friends who lost that bet.
Two friends, on separate occasions, lost that bet. They lived, but both got beatings, and in both cases it was apparent that delivering a beating was the main goal, and theft was an after thought.
