Bloomberg: Guns for me, NOT for thee.......
Typical elitism... He even takes his armed entourage to Bermuda.

The mayor also takes along a police detail when he travels, flying two officers on his private plane and paying as much as $400 a night to put them up at a hotel near his house; the city pays their wages while they are there, as it does whether Mr. Bloomberg is New York or not. Guns are largely forbidden in Bermuda — even most police officers do not use them — but the mayor’s guards have special permission to carry weapons.

6. Strange how those who want to restrict gun rights for the 'masses' never have to worry
about their own ability to have them (or to hire an armed gang to provide their personal protection.)

19. Why would you accuse me of supporting fascist polies of Bush*?
Geez, Statistical. This is a position held by NYC mayor Bloomberg.

So, I'm a fascist for asking what DUers thought about it? REALLY?!!! Civility really is dead on DU, lately it seems...

21. So you DON'T support probiting firearms purchases for those on the double plus ungood TERRA list?
If you think denying Constitutional rights based on secret govt lists is wrong then I apologize.

Please respond so everyone knows exactly where you stand on the issue.

22. Your rudeness is abyssmal. But in truth I don't know how I feel
about this. I believe in gun rights and at the same time I have major qualms about how the no-fly list has been constructed, used, and maintained. Yet, it hardly makes sense that those who have violent intentions towards Americans or the government should be enabled in that process. Of course, the catch 22 is that that list does not necessarily reflect those that have any proven mal-intent, have broken any laws, or have done anything more than had the misfortune to have a name similar to another. So, on balance, I would have to side with assurance of constitutional rights. Happy now?

I gave you benefit of the doubt, Stat, when I should have alerted on you for your attack on me. Let's see if you are honorable enough to offer a sincere apology.

20. The lists are not legal
They are about as legally sound as the list of Communists during the McCarthy era. There is no way to see if your name is on any list until your rights are violated, then there is no way of getting your name taken off the list. If there was due process involved in any of the decisions about the list then there might be some merit to the argument. Most of the supporters of the right to own firearms who post on this forum are in favor of the NICS database, which is a list. The reason for the almost universal support for NICS is that to get on that list, there is a defined legal process by which you get in the database (you have committed a felony or violent misdemeanor) or you have been adjudicated mentally ill. There is also a process for restoring your right to own firearms cumbersome as it may be.

Hope that clears up the resistance to the secret terror lists.

23. Of course, Bloomberg isn't the only two-faced one
There's also the government of Bermuda which gives Bloomberg's escorts permission to do what it doesn't allow most (if any) of its own citizens to. If I were a local, I'd be livid.
