Chesterfield woman fatally shot; police suspect ex-boyfriend
A woman was shot to death yesterday and a man seriously wounded in what Chesterfield County police are calling a domestic-related shooting between a former couple.

Chrystal D. Snipes, 27, a mother of two, was shot and killed outside her family's home in the 10200 block of Reams Road, police said.

At 3:36 p.m., police received a call for shots fired at a home off Reams Road, near Mistywood Road and across from Reams Elementary School. When officers arrived, they found a woman dead with gunshot wounds outside the front door and a still-conscious man, who also had been shot, said Chesterfield police Capt. Terry Patterson.

Both victims apparently lived at the address with as many as five other people, including several children, Patterson said. The two victims had at one time been romantically involved, police believe.

If she knew her ex-boyfriend owned a gun she probably should have owned one too. Statistically.

And developed psychic powers to predict the attack.

And work on those quick draw skills.

And secure the gun from her kids.

1. Hmmm.

You used this senseless tragedy to score points in your endless evangelism against gun ownership?!?!

4. Glad you think it was a stupid answer, because I was using parody to

shine the light on precisely the same response used by a member of your team! See post #6 here:

One of the many worst parts about pro-control supporters is that they dishonestly portray gun rights (civil rights) supporters as being completely insensitive to firearm related deaths.

Unfortunately for your argument for more control, violent crime is on the steady decrease while gun ownership is on a steady increase. I suppose you have a problem with the "proliferation" of decreasing violent crime?

5. "Gun nuts"? I don't think so
Shallow thinking that equates the law abiding with the criminals and name calling do not reinforce your point of view.

9. What exactly do you mean by "psychic powers to predict the attack"?
Do you mean psychic powers to predict the precise time and place, or do you mean to divine that the ex planned to kill her at all? Because the evidence indicates, at least to those willing to open their eyes to it, that intimate partner homicide is quite predictable with the abilities we already have, certainly the "whether" and "when."

And if you have the "when," the "where" becomes predictable, since it'll be wherever the prospective victim is at the time of the "when." As for "how"... does it really matter? Gun, knife, hatchet, baseball bat, TV tray table, "personal force," all are lethal when employed by someone intent upon premeditated killing. The perp--who has since died, by the way (http://www2.timesdispatch.com/rtd/news/local/crime/article/MURDGAT14_20100514-101801/344502/)--knew where to find the vic, namely at home.

Fundamentally, the problem was that the perp was an abusive asshole whose SO kicked him out/left him as a result, and decided maintaining his self-image required ending her life, and then killing himself while his self-image was still intact. Whether or not he had a gun made zero difference.
