More Weld (County) residents are carrying guns (Colorado)

It's called the “Obama Factor” according to locals, who have seen the gun sales and gun permits in Weld County streak upward since the new president and the Democrats took power.

“People hear rumors that the government will be taking their guns, or they'll be limiting the ammunition,” said Weld County Sheriff John Cooke. “The rumors haven't come true, but people are worried.”

They are so worried that the number of concealed weapons permits in Weld County has shot up to 4,347 as of last month, compared to 834 permits before Obama was elected.

Gun sales in the county aren't registered with the state, but gun shop and sporting goods owners say their sales “skyrocketed” with the Democrats' wins.
