I'm finding conflicting information about out of state permits. The map show Ohio license good there. Then I'm reading about local or county laws that do not even allow a hand gun locked in the trunk. Then there is the Federal law making it legal to transport in a vehicle is locked and unloaded. Google fu didn't help. Anyone know anything about the subject? Will be in some questionable areas in Las Vegas.

console or glove box if you have a CCW permit. I heard a Sheriff from West Virginia on a radio interview last week say in WV that is illegal the CCW applies for a weapon carried on your person. He said if you don't have it on your person the weapon has to be stored separate from the ammo. I have been carrying my weapon in my console in WV and Ohio and now I find out it is illegal in WV. Here WV recognizes the Ohio CCW law but PA doesn't. I have come to the point I rarely carry anymore just out of fear of breaking the CCW laws.

15. Get a Utah or Florida permit & you'll be good in PA |

I live in PA and just took the Utah course so I can be totally legal in Ohio.
Or some PA county sheriffs will issue out of state permits. You have to have 3 references that live in that county.

2. You probably read this page, but... |

here it is anyway: http://www.nsrpa.us/legal/nevlocal.htmlMeanwhile, call a gun club in Clark County, and just ask them. Maybe they can also point you to the law online as well.

was grandfathered in on not transporting "any" gun in the car according to web sites. They state use extreme caution. Good idea on getting in touch with a gun club.

5. The Federal law you are seeing is a protection, not a ban. |
|
Federal law says it's OK to drive through a jurisdiction with a gun banned in that jurisdiction as long as it's legal where you're coming from and where you're going, and it's unloaded and locked in the trunk. That protects you if you're driving from, say, Vermont to NC with a rifle that's banned in NJ; NJ can't send you to prison for 5 years simply because you are passing through their state with an unloaded, locked-away rifle in your trunk. However, it doesn't protect you if your destination is NJ; then NJ laws apply.

9. Very true...some jurisdictions believe themselves to be above Federal law, and NJ is one. |

However, at least this does give you a recourse in Federal court if you are illegally harassed by local or state authorities. It's still good to be discreet, though, even if you are in full compliance with the law, to avoid any undue harassment.

10. Undue harassment. NJ? No such thing. |

Once on a traffic stop a cop used the "Hey, there is a paper bag in the back seat. Must be drugs, so I have probable cause to search the vehicle." bullshit on me.
So I was handcuffed, placed in the back of their patrol car while they tossed my stuff onto the lawn. The dumped the entire car onto the side of the road. They went through my briefcase, taking time to read some of the paperwork that was in it. But overall, I think they were getting some sick pleasure out of it. They were laughing the entire time while they trashed my shit.
You should have seen their faces when they dumped the paper bag. Pez dispensers. 10 of them. Exactly what I told them that was in there. When they did not find anything, and they could not hold me any longer I had to clean up my stuff from the side of the road. Humiliating. One of the cops just sat there leaning against his hood watching me while I cleaned up my stuff.
I would have filed a complaint, but the only way to do it and not get arrested was to have a lawer do it. See they play this little game at the station when you come in for a complaint form. They will not give it to you unless you tell them everything, if you refuse and just state that you want the form over and over either you will not get the form or you will be arrested. Could not afford the lawer, so I could not complain. In the 6 years it's been since that happened, the chief and about 20 of the 35 officers the town had were fired for one reason or another. I cannot imagine what?

NV is an open carry state and if in your vehicle you can carry a fully loaded handgun concealed, be it on your person or in your glovebox. However, I'm not sure what applies to out of state vistors and in NLV and Boulder City, don't get caught carrying a concealed weapon in your vehicle w/o a valid NV CCW. NV doesn't have a pre-emption law yet. Hope this helps
