Bloomberg Further Disgraces Himself In Latest Anti-Gun Pitch
Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)- No one in this country knows better than New Yorkers what “devastation” looks like. On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center buildings and their surrounding area were reduced to rubble, burying nearly 3,000 Americans.

To this day, the images are difficult to comprehend; they show a concentration of man-made destruction unprecedented in the United States and perhaps anywhere on Earth.

New York’s current murder rate pales in comparison to that of 2001, of course. But it also pales in comparison to what it was in other years gone by. Due in part to crime-fighting programs adopted under former mayor Rudolph Giuliani, New York City’s murder rate is only a fifth of what it was 20 years ago.

Presumably, New Yorkers are well aware of the relative safety in which they live today. However, the current mayor, Michael Bloomberg, has a skewed perspective even though the September 11 anniversary is front and center in every news outlet today due to other controversies.

--snip--

Of course, the operative words in the “90 percent” soundbite are “and traced.” The GAO has already reported that most guns seized in Mexico, from cartels or anyone else, have not originated in the United States. For example, GAO noted, “In 2008, of the almost 30,000 firearms that the Mexican Attorney General’s office said were seized, only around 7,200, or approximately a quarter, were submitted to ATF for tracing.” The others were not submitted for tracing, presumably in many cases because their markings indicated that they were not traceable to the U.S.

3. As much as I disagree with Bloomberg, I have to say he is Guliani's idealogical twin...
so I don't understand the singing of Guliani's praises while criticizing Bloomberg for being as anti-gun as Guliani; they are both guns-are-only-for-the-wealthy-and-powerful types.

Calling for more U.S. gun control because Mexical cartels are using U.S.-made military weapons stolen from the Mexican government is pretty bold, though.

6. In other news, another shooting rampage.
He was a lawful gun owner. Right up until the moment he wasn't.

15. Not, strictly speaking, a convicted felon
Article says he was charged with two felony counts, but managed to plea-bargain it down to a misdemeanor.

Still, that's a damn good indication he wasn't what you'd call a "law-abiding citizen," even if he wasn't legally prohibited from owning a weapon. Probably a wife-beater too.

16. The populations of large
metro areas like NY, Chicago and DC are for more gun control and keep electing mayors that support their views. That is just the way it is.

17. Another Bloomburg Mayor bites the dust!!!!!!
Eddie Perez, former mayor of Hartford, gets three years in the big house for taking a bribe and attempted extortion. He was convicted in June of five charges and resigned a week later. At sentencing, the judge told Perez he must be held accountable for his actions despite his good deeds.

Perez, who escaped an impoverished childhood to become a community activist and Hartford's first Latino mayor, said he will never forgive himself for disappointing his supporters. He had faced up to 60 years in prison if given the maximum sentence, but prosecutors asked for five years.
