This is a hoot: Freepers claiming the NRA is infiltrated by leftists
All because they had the temerity to endorse a (GASP) Democrat who isn't calling for the head of Nancy Pelosi:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2592913/posts

The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund has endorsed on-the-ropes incumbent Democrat Chris Carney in Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District over Republican challenger Tom Marino

The comments are for the most part funnier than hell. Some of the wingnuts seem mightily pissed off that the NRA

didn't automatically endorse the Pubbie challenger. I guess (like some posters here, unfortunately)

they don't understand the idea of a single-issue organization....

2. They're also claiming MoveOn wants the flag banned
from classrooms. I just got a viral 'teamail'. Fox is behind this claim.

3. Oh, my.
They must think that gun ownership is only for Republicans. Guess again.

6. Sadly, there have been some DUers that think the same way
There was a rather vocal advocate of gun control here that often claimed that gun ownership was a marker for right-wing tendencies.

5. *snort* it's a mirror image of some of the critics here.
Neither group understands how a single-issue advocacy group works, and how it stays successful.

Love it, lol!!

18. *Stays* being a very key word.

I have to believe that as support for gun "control" wanes among Dems, many of those same Dems are becoming members of the NRA. Hell..........I'm a new member myself.

8. Wait til they hear about Eugene Debs:

"The Constitution of the United States guarantees to you the right to bear arms…You have the unquestioned right, under the law, to defend your life and protect the sanctity of your fireside. Failing in either, you are a coward and a craven and undeserving of the name of man.” — Eugene V. Debs

13. Or Robert F. Williams. Or the Deacons For Defense And Justice.
I can guarantee 99% of teabaggers have never heard of them, and if and when they ever did find out about them- they'd shit a brick!

17. How do you think modern gun control laws came into existance?

Constitutional rights are only for white people according to them.

9. This is unpossible. Many here insist the NRA exists only to support Republicans
even though they are a SINGLE ISSUE organization.

20. The NRA isn't as overwhelmingly Repub as it used to be. Hence the angst on FR.
Maybe we should follow jazzhound's example and go join up. Driving the teabaggers away from something they thought was exclusively

theirs would be a beautiful thing!

22. I was at a jazz festival a short while ago and noticed
Edited on Tue Sep-21-10 09:38 AM by jazzhound
that a fellow fan who I know for certain is a leftie was wearing an NRA cap. He was engaged in conversation with someone so I didn't rush up to him to engage, but next time I see him I'll be sure to speak with him on the subject of the RKBA.

Sometime today I'm returning the umpteenth (solicitation) letter from John Kerry with a promise to support the Democratic Party financially once the "assault weapons" ban is off the Dem platform and Dem pols nationwide are dropping ill-constructed gun "control" legislation. (esp. California pols!)

And as always, I will include copies of my checks to the NRA and California Rifle and Pistol Association.

W/regards to the motivation to join up, it was the hypocritical brain-dead members of this forum that pushed me over the edge. It's way past time to deliver some tough love to Dem pols on this issue.

23. Sincere thanks for your support!

Support for gun "control" is circling the bowl precisely because of posts like this. Fair minded lurkers who read this spew realize that the only people who resort to this BS are people with no game!
