Hurt feelings, bruised ego, perceived disrespect cried out to be avenged?
Access to a gun clouded his judgment, prompting a severe overreaction and a poor choice.

Such a tragedy. Now carry on dying y'all.

1. Boring. Be more funny!
Shares, you can do better, man. I think you are starting to phone it in. You're getting lazy.

2. I'm having trouble keeping up with the volume of these incidents.
Sunday morning after Saturday night is particularly heavy.

4. Can you ever reply without
a personal attack. Many here that disagree are able to do it without being disagreeable. I often wonder about how angry some gun owners are.

7. Do you wonder about angy black people, angry writers, or other people who
exercise the rights granted to them in the constitution and upheld by the supreme court?

I wonder how long before you anti people start setting off pipe bombs like the other anti fringe groups who lost in the legal forums.

9. Good thing I'm not angry as
I own many, many firearms and have a CCW. Use to teach an anger management class too.

11. I'm not angry, I am BORED TO FUCKING DEATH
of the same old, tired, rehashed, thoroughly debunked claims you and others make time after time after time, as if a new day has somehow magically made your refuted, illogical, authoritarian assertions true and that the SCOTUS is going to just hold a press conference and say, "sorry, we made a mistake" and reverse its TWICE CONFIRMED decision.

Not angry, man, just really fucking bored with it.

If you have a new idea, a new plan, some actual research that makes a valid claim, and you want to discuss it, I am here with my ears and eyes open. Convince me. Show me the proof.

12. Yes, I do, every time.
I am attacking shares' message, not him.

I find you disagreeable. Why can't you state your case without being disagreeable? I often wonder about how angry anti-2A people are.

13. "Personal attack" is like misrepresenting someone, or lying about them?
And when proved wrong refusing to apologize. That kind of disagreeable?

6. In some cases firearms cause tragedy, in some they save lives ...
my daughter used a handgun to stop an intruder breaking into our home many years ago. No shots were fired, she pointed the revolver at him and he ran.

This is not unusual and happens many times in the United States every day.

On a fair set of scales, handguns are used successfully to prevent serious injury or death far more often than they are used to injure or kill.

There are approximately two million defensive gun uses (DGU's) per year by law abiding citizens. That was one of the findings in a national survey conducted by Gary Kleck, a Florida State University criminologist in 1993. Prior to Dr. Kleck's survey, thirteen other surveys indicated a range of between 800,000 to 2.5 million DGU's annually. However these surveys each had their flaws which prompted Dr. Kleck to conduct his own study specifically tailored to estimate the number of DGU's annually.

At the low end 108000/365 equals 296 times a day that a firearm successfully prevents a crime. At the high end, 2.500,000 = 6 849 times per day. The truth probably lies somewhere in between.

My daughter's incident never made it into any data base for analysis, as is true of most incidents where not shots are fired.

10. My hat is off to you Spin.
One of the few here that can make an argument without making a smart remark and doing it without anger or personal attack. It is a pleasure to have you on this board and you have my utmost respect. My guess is that you change more thinking and open more minds than all the wise guys put together.

14. Thanks ...
I come here for the fun of a good debate. I used to post on gun forums where everyone was pro-RKBA. While it was fun to discuss firearms, very few people who opposed RKBA ever bothered to post. DU offers a real challenge as a large number of very literate posters oppose RKBA and are willing to present their viewpoints.

There are good arguments on both sides of the gun control issue and emotions often run high.

People often have personal experiences that lead to their position on the subject. As I have mentioned many times, my daughter stopped a intruder breaking into our home in Tampa by pointing a revolver at him. While it's hard to say what might have happened had she not been armed, there is a good possibility that she might have been raped or possibly even murdered. Obviously, I favor the right to own firearms for self defense.

But I also remember discussing firearms with my next door neighbor in Tampa. When she mentioned that she could never own a firearm, I asked why? She replied that her brother had committed suicide in his bedroom and she still remembered cleaning his brains of the wall. Perhaps that's the reason that I prefer to be polite when I encounter a person who appears very emotional about the issue.

Plus many people don't bother to post but merely lurk. Some of the lurkers on DU eventually find their way to the Gungeon and are probably surprised to learn that some Democrats actually own firearms and believe strongly in the Second Amendment. We may be able to influence a few to at least consider voting for Democrats.

15. History repeats..................

When the "thug culture" and all that goes with it that millionaire football players think they have to dress and act that way when they go clubbing, something is wrong with a society.

When the well-off kids of wealthy parents going to exclusive schools in the suburbs take their role models from "gangsta rappers," something is wrong with a culture.

When hip-hop artists go so far as fake and exaggerate their criminal pasts to boost their creds and record sales, that's what you get, young punks who will shoot and kill people to fulfill their overinflated sense of honor and entitlement.

Guns were banned in Chicago for thirty years. The thugs there will keep blasting each other over not being invited to parties, looks given to their girlfriend, bad things said about their momma or just because they want what you got.

Daley couldn't keep them from getting weapons with all his laws and bluster. Which is really pretty amusing when you think about it. There are laws against cutting up airports. There are laws against warrantless searches, even in public housing. He finds it convenient to ignore the law when it served HIS agenda. Why is he shocked when fellow criminals emulate him when it suits their agenda?

You could gather up every gun in Cook county, Illinois and the surrounding states and the same thugs and thug wannabe bastards will be going to Home Depot and hacking your balls off with a machete made in Taiwan. Rwanda and Nigeria should be ample example of what roving bands of thugs can do with farm implements. A million butchered a hundred days. Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge didn't kill that many people in that short a time.
