NRA endorsements by state
Click the following link, then click a state.
Scroll down for a list of the endorsements.

http://www.nrapvf.org/grades-endorsements.aspx

There are MANY (GASP) Dems receiving NRA endorsements over their Rep counterparts.

1. It's a sign-in page that requires a password.
Anyway, thanks NRA for stabbing Harry Reid in the back. God forbid he should vote to confirm a well-qualified, perfectly sane SCOTUS nominee.

4. Good for them....
I'm not a gun person. I'm in favor of sane, reasonable gun control. But this is one of those issues where I see the wisdom in Dems not being as aggressive on a certain issue even if it's one I support. I recognize that I'm in the minority on the issue and I accept that.

That being said, I'm glad to see that the more hands off approach has paid off for Dems and that the NRA aren't being complete hypocrites on the issue and supporting Republicans no matter what. I give them credit for that. I still don't like a lot of their overheated, melodramatic rhetoric in general but at least they're moving away from being a complete wing of the Republican party.

5. I can barely imagine an endorsement I care less about.
The perpetual hand-wringing of the gundies is one of the most annoying thing on the political spectrum.

"OBAMA'S COMING FOR YOUR GUNS!"

No, he's not. Sorry to disappoint...

by the 2nd Amendment folks. You hadn't heard that? Really? I find that very hard to believe.

As I said, I can't be bothered with the NRA's endorsement of anyone. It's completely irrelevant to anything.

28. You are mis-informed...
President Obama has a well-established track record of gun-control and bans. His AG (as late as last year) called for a so-called "assault weapons ban," and the onerous language of this "ban" remains in the Democratic Party's Platform.

Hey, are you really serious about ridding yourself of "annoying things on the political spectrum?" Why don't you work to get rid of the ban language? Or do you support such? Which is it, Mineral Man, get rid of the anti-2A language, or continue fighting the "gun-control" battle? The "disappointment" is that some folks (yourself?) want to keep the gun-control pot percolating AND somehow point to "hand-wringing" to glaze over increasingly self-indulgent culture battles.

10. Every Democrat but one, from Governor down to state Assembly...
on my ballot is rated "F".

The one Democrat they don't rate "F" is the state Senate candidate who got on the ballot at the last minute, so they don't rate her at all-- but no doubt they'll eventually find reason to hate her, too.

(Any organization that endorses Paladino for Governor should die a horrible death.)

14. You apparently hate the NRA so much you equate

an F rating with hatred. Speaks volumes.

19. The problem is that your "hate" is based entirely on the wrong reasons.
The NRA, whatever you may think of them, is pretty much a single-issue org. So is PETA. Do you hate PETA? (I do...)

Edited on Fri Oct-15-10 10:29 AM by jazzhound
I wasn't addressing your hate --- I was addressing your lack of reasoning.

Edited to spell it out for you, since it's likely necessary:
The fact that the NRA gives a candidate an F rating does not entail that they HATE that candidate.

23. Considering you live in New York state, that's not exactly surprising
And certainly not on Long Island. Bear in mind the NRA-PVF's ratings are based on one thing, and one thing alone, to wit a candidate's stance on gun rights.

It should also be noted that the NRA-PVF doesn't necessarily endorse a candidate in every race. If neither of the candidates has an A rating, they usually don't endorse anyone.

16. I find it troubling that they make endorsements on offices that are totally non-legislative
And have nothing to do with law enforcement, or with interpretation of the law.

For example, in California they provide endorsements for the state Treasurer, Secretary of State, Insurance Commissioner, and one slot on the Board of Equalization. In all cases they picked (Surprise!!!) the Republican, whether or not the Democratic candidate has any track record on gun rights or gun law issues.

I'll grant that the incumbent Treasurer Bill Lockyer has a shameful record in that regard from when he served as AG, but they really have no reason to oppose the re-election of Debra Bowen as Secretary of State.

32. If I'm not mistaken, *AQ* translates to

"answered questionaire" ---- different from a grade of *A*.

Aside from that.............more solid evidence that the NRA does in fact support gun-rights supporting Dems.

33. Sorta..
AQ = "A pro-gun candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate's responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues."

Now, there's no such thing as a 'BQ' or 'CQ', but consider it A'ish.
