How can New Jersey imprison a gun owner who broke no laws?
http://www.examiner.com/gun-rights-in-national/how-can-new-jersey-imprison-a-gun-owner-who-broke-no-laws

""Hey David," the Facebook message began, "Thought you might be interested in Brian Aitken, in jail in NJ for 7 years for owning legal guns."

I get people approaching me all the time wanting me to write about their legal cases. Most of the time, I get very subjectively-recounted narratives with very little to substantiate, and even less on what the defendants may have actually done. Experience has made me naturally wary of jumping on such bandwagons without investigation.

Here's what I've found."

More at link. Very disturbing.

2. New Jersey is also known for its anti-hunting virulence...
...the stink from that position has probably long-since wafted over into anti-gun authoritarianism.

3. The drive-by unrec crowd I see has been here...
Guess they feel that it is ok to arrest and sentence a person to 7 years in jail for the crime of being innocent.

Afraid of expressing their true feelings?

6. When they express their true feelings, their post is deleted ...
they also know that they can't present any solid arguments that can stand up to the pro-RKBA contingent in the Gungeon as their arguments are based more on emotions than facts.

5. I suspect that if Aitken was rich, a celib, or a person with influence...
the case would have never went to court.

If he would have living in the free United States in places like Florida, there would have been no problem.

The moral of the story is that it's wise not to live in New Jersey, especially if you choose to own firearms.

14. If this is not pure bullshit, why didn't his attorney appeal five minutes
after the ruling?

From the way it is written, there was no case against him - so it would have been an easy case to overturn on appeal.

If it was NOT appealed, maybe the article is not telling the whole story?

Did this guy have a valid NJ FID? I didn't see it mentioned in the article. Without it, he's going to have troubles.
