Constitutional Carry in Texas
If you feel that missing a days work and spending hundreds of dollars to excercise your rights is insulting . Or , conversely ,If you are of the opinion that "it" will result in numerous honor killings , road rage , and people changing the station on the TV with their sidearms , by all means let your voice be heard . The stars have aligned and now is the time to strike .

Call and write your rep and dont forget to write and call Uncle Ricky . And even more importantly
tell your friends .

1. Texas: Proud venue of the Luby's Cafeteria and Fort Hood massacres.
Enough with the guns and ammo already.

5. Insult Texas all you want...
You could not pay me enough to live in, or near a cesspit of corruption like Chicago. Just remember, if you were to get your fantasy fulfilled of disarming American civilians, then Police everywhere could be just like the Chicago PD.

9. The Luby's Cafeteria and Fort Hood were NO GUN ZONES at the time the shootings took place
and in theory for those shootings to occur only two guns needed to exist. China has a total gun ban and an authoritarian government but they manage to have 40 million illegal civilian owned guns.

No gun ban or gun control law can stop these shootings because if someone is dedicated to commit a shooting he will find a gun eventually, even in the UK, china, nigeria or russia or anywhere guns are banned.

13. THe Luby's Cafeteria massacre might have been stopped had concelaed carry existed ...
in Texas at that time.

Suzanna Hupp lost both her parents in the shooting. Had she violated the law at the time and carried her handgun into the restaurant, she could have stopped the shooter.

On Wednesday, October 16, 1991, Hupp and her parents were having lunch at the Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen. She had left her gun in her car (several months before, she decided in case she got caught and had her chiropractor's license revoked) to comply with Texas state law at the time, which forbade carrying a concealed weapon. When George Hennard drove his truck into the cafeteria and opened fire on the patrons, Hupp instinctively reached into her purse for her weapon, but it was in her vehicle. Her father, Al Gratia, tried to rush Hennard and was shot in the chest. As the gunman reloaded, Hupp escaped through a broken window and believed that her mother, Ursula Gratia, was behind her. Hennard put a gun to her mother's head as she cradled her mortally wounded husband. Hupp's mother and father were killed along with twenty-one other persons. Hennard also wounded some twenty others. As a survivor of the Luby's massacre, Hupp testified across the country in support of concealed-handgun laws. She said that had there been a second chance to prevent the slaughter, she would have violated the Texas law and carried the handgun inside her purse into the restaurant<2>.

Her testimony in front of Congress is powerful and riveting and can be viewed at:

is the Susanna Gratia Hupp was one of four people in Luby's that day that had guns in their cars. The other three were killed

15. I wasn't aware of that....
Before Florida had concealed weapons permits I used to carry a handgun in my car. I never took it with me into a restaurant either.

Honest citizens tend to obey the law.

Thanks for the info.

16. Wow. I wasn't aware of that part of the story either.

Makes the slaughter seem a greater outrage -- if that's even possible.

17. Depends on your point of view
" The mere existence of guns and ammo is what prompted this incident in the first place . And the continued proliferation thereof is an ironclad guarantee that it will happen again . "

Well , I will guarantee one thing . A whole lot of people started breaking the law the very next day . It is no small wonder the laws were changed here .

Anybody drop a dime yet ? Yea or Nay ?

2. There isn't much interest in it now.
Here in Texas the two big gun rights pushes are for Employee Protection In Employer Parking Lots and for College Concealed Carry.

I have found that there is in fact a great deal of interest in this subject . Stamps were canceled , faxes facsimiled , and rolls of dimes were dropped . I trust you have and will continue to do so on your end . If so , surely we will meet in the middle some 106 degree day over an ice cold glass of skeeter pee .

It is important not to discount the fact that "El Asesino Coyote" , being the consummate whore that he is , might very well choose this subject as both a scrap he could toss his constituents and a ball that he might run very far with .

7. I think on par I'd like to see it pass. Not that I would do it per se but.
I'd like to be able to carry concealed with a sport coat but have the option of taking my sport coat off as the occasion occurs. Cannot do that under current law.
