and here we go. the various mr smith&wesson and beretta will say it's not their fault
genova, italy. today.
a 70-years-old man, persuaded that his wife had an affair with a neighbor, gets his .38 smith&wesson and shoots to death his wife, the man and his brother, and then kills himself.

and it's the last case of a series in italy where the "tragic" accidents take place on weekly basis.

i'm reading about the horrible events that took place in arizona, and it seems that it's like a big wave swelling and crashing on every shore in the west, with ripples that drag everything living with it in an awful wreck.

and of course it's the individual fault.
of course the firearms bosses have nothing to do with what one does with a weapon.
of course - of course - of course -

and in the meantime people die shot, and the figures of these businesses grow. the only red figures left are the bloody ones on the floor here and there.

i'm tired of this presumed innocence.
the firearms bosses should answer, someway.

1. Here in vermont we've..
never had a law prohibiting the carrying of concealed weapons. Never. We have a very large per capita gun ownership. Yet we have one of the lowest rates of violent crime in the nation. What we do not have here are many persons stupid enough to listen to RW hate radio or politicians who foment hatred and advocate violence against our neighbors.

Sorry for the cliche but it's not guns that kill people.

2. i know. but when people get their gun and go out...
...shooting around, you cannot just rely on the statistic figures of your area or your community.
it's a matter of fact, and it is about other communities.

firearms producers advertise, promote, seduce, then sell automatic guns to people who are not fighting a war, there's no enemy out in the street, no sniper at the window. and some people kill with them weapons.
but the producers claim innocence, as if they had no part in it.
tv should be blamed? ok. some kind of journalism? sure. many politicians and their language? no doubt. some preachers with their attacking violent sermons? i agree.

but it's guns that kill people.
of course i know americans and people everywhere have a right to buy and keep a gun, if they want.

i'm just calling for shared responsibility on firearms producers. because they sell to civilians, they spread arms in the communities.
they have to answer for that, in my opinion.

ps: i just saw my forum was moved in the gun forum. go figure, i thought i was talking about civil responsibility and instead i was talking about guns

:) ciao from italy

3. Funny because folks here have been getting their guns
and "shooting around" for centuries, and the targets of most of this shooting are white tailed deer. We are one of three states that allows (and the only state that always has allowed) our citizens to carry concealed firearms. That throws a sizable monkey wrench into theories that liberal gun laws lead to violent crime. As does the fact that states with the highest violent crime tend to be those with the most restrictive gun laws.

Sorry but you need to search for a different causal relationship for these horrendous murders because the non-restrictive gun laws of Arizona don't add up.

4. hehe, i'm not looking for causal link between the arizona shootings...
...and more restrictive laws.
and i'm glad you have a cherished tradition with hunt, in vermont.

i'm calling for responsibility on firearms producers, in the US or in italy, as stated in my original post.

then yes, in my opinion, more restrictive laws may help reduce more the crimes, despite the stats: maybe not all communities, and not all the cities, have good-humored and relaxed peaceful people living in it, like mine or yours - and exactly for those communities, this is becoming a growing problem. and politics should take it into account.

5. I love the thing you did with the shipwreck imagery
But I would paint the sea as if it were blood , without using the word blood .

You claim to see no enemy in the street , yet the actions of a sniper on a street corner spurred this very thread .
There he is , it's the enemy . Turn and face him , and prepare to defend yourself .
I will be swinging my mastodonic testicles over my head ,in my purse like a morning star . So stay back at least 10 feet .

He was in a battle at least .

He chose to throw his body over his wife rather than mantle her with moral superiority . And the tactic worked . As well as that can .

11. For the third time today, "automatic guns" are as tightly controlled as bombs and missiles.
You can't buy automatic weapons at gun stores, and unauthorized possession is a 10-year felony per item.

14.  Would you also hold the manufacturers of cars and trucks ....
with the same liability. How about the builders of pools, plastic buckets, and knives?
After all, all of them have caused the injury and death of people.

17. promoting, advertising, alluring into buying a gun...
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 04:02 PM by demoleft
...stimulates different motivations than those provoked by doing the same with many of the items you quote.
by which i don't mean that it is illegal or that people who buy guns are out of their mind.

i mean that the guns/weapons and the items you quote and that are cause of death cannot be compared.
as i told previously in this thread, they can compare by logic. and logic leaves you there where it has found you.

you trigger the purchase of weapons enacting on different feelings, not the same of the consumer induced to buy knifes for the kitchen.

anyway, i am easy.
thanx for talking with me, oneshooter
