What Constitutional rights did the Tucson shooting victims have?
Edited on Mon Jan-10-11 05:36 PM by sharesunited
Answer: None.

The shooter's so-called 2nd Amendment rights invalidated them all.

6. Victims have all their inalienable rights and they are not granted by our Constitution. Criminals
who commit a crime lose their inalienable rights once convicted by a court as required by our Constitution unless they lost those rights after being convicted for past crimes or other legal reasons.

Perhaps you might consider thinking before you post.

7. Of what value are rights which can be taken at the whim of another?
I would call any such "rights" illusory at best.

Such a deep thinker YOU are.

14. We part company on the existence of any such RKBA. I don't believe in the same God you do.

15. I didn't use God. Rights are inalienable because sovereign people declared they are off limits to
government as did PA in 1776, VT in 1777, and the majority of states thereafter.

As inalienable, they pre-exist our Constitution and in no way depend upon it for legitimacy.

Government has no authority to ban those rights although it has the power to do so if a cowardly citizenry permit that to happen.

Infringement is acceptable as long as an individual's rights are carefully balanced with an overwhelming social need.

16. Your last sentence holds promise that you are not a lost cause.
But you have much much work to do to reconcile your belief in inalienable rights with your support for empowering any individual with technology capable of instantly terminating ALL the rights of a dozen other individuals.

That dog don't fly.

You really should consider taking a Civics class, as far as i know learning has never harmed anyone and it might answer a few of your questions.

9. All of the same ones that the shooter has,
The shooter may now find the 5th, 6th, and 8th Amendment rights more helpful than most other citizens.

They had all of their rights. They no longer do. He deprived them of their rights by killing them. This is a crime called "murder." Perhaps you have heard of it. It is heinous. It has nothing to do whatsoever with the Second Amendment.

But you knew that.
