Dog shot; reward offered for info

The story of Ezekiel, a stray German shepherd that was shot in the head and survived, has spread far beyond Frugality's rural borders in recent days. It has caught the attention of state police and Dogs Deserve Better, which has offered a $1,000 reward to find out who shot him.

It's also generated a groundswell of emotion at and around the church where the stray frequented, sadness from its neighbors that anyone would attack the animal and anger from Dogs Deserve Better members, who believe the church should have done more to help the lonely dog. "This poor dog," said Dogs Deserve Better founder Tamira Thayne, who took in the black and tan shepherd after finding it hiding in a bush behind St. Joan of Arc Church in Frugality. "It's a miracle he survived."

Both Thayne and police have turned to the public for help, with Thayne's group offering the reward Monday. State police said the 3-year-old dog was shot sometime between Jan. 2 and Jan. 6 near Beaver Valley and Marina roads.

A bullet passed through the back of Ezekiel's ear and exited through the side of his head, Thayne said. She found the dog weak, wounded and starving after a call from a few concerned church parishioners.

In San Diego the Marine Mammal Center is caring for seals shot by idiots with guns. One survivor is Silent Knight. He's blind from the injury but, making progress. http://www.marinemammalcenter.org/

I hope whoever shot this poor dog is found and put in jail for a stretch. Same for the bastard who shot Silent Knight with a shot gun. :mad:
