You can't outsmart crazy!
Ypu can't outsmart crazy

Finally, a decidedly rational response to Saturday's tragedy!

All the knee-jerk reaction that the shooter was some on Right wing crusade starts to unravel. The Washington Post{/i] determines he was registered independent and had not even voted in the last election.

Now if someone can determine a way to know how crazy this bastard was so he could have been locked away before he started shooting, let's hear it.

What responsibility did all those classmates, teachers and acquaintances coming out of the woodwork saying they "knew" he was crazy to "tell somebody?"

Who were they supposed to tell?

2. I'm sure someone will be along presently to tell you how wrong you are...
and tell us all about what a republican in disguise he was, all without any shred of evidence, of course.

You could probably speed the process by posting this in LBN or GD...

3. Agreed
This was one disturbed individual without a shred of evidence to show he acted from the right or the left. Anyone that goes on a diatribe about grammar using incoherent ramblings as a basis was in desperate need of help.

5. 'What really needs to be addressed seriously is the fact that this country has a gun problem'
'What really needs to be addressed seriously is the fact that this country has a gun problem and it's had a gun problem for a long time. A man rejected by the military, kicked out of college and who worried others around him was still allowed to legally purchase his Glock and, more importantly, his high-volume ammunition clips. He had three clips which had 33 rounds each. These sorts of clips were illegal under the assault weapons ban which was allowed to expire during the Bush Administration. If that law were still in place, he could only have purchased clips that held 10 rounds, meaning he would have to reload more frequently and the bloodshed would have been less. I hope the NRA and their friends in Congress are proud. Right now, Arizona is considering allowing faculty and college students to carry concealed weapons without a permit.'

6. You didn't answer the question?
Edited on Tue Jan-11-11 07:56 PM by one-eyed fat man
What responsibility did all those classmates, teachers and acquaintances coming out of the woodwork saying they "knew" he was crazy to "tell somebody?"

Who were they supposed to tell?

Privacy laws prohibited the Army from revealing that the shooter had failed a drug screening. So Who do they tell?

You DO know that the 1994-2004 magazine ban only prohibited the manufacture of large capacity magazines for sale to civilians?

All those magazines made before the ban were available, but at a premium.

Had the ban not sunset, there is nothing that assures the carnage would have been any less, or that he would not have paid the premium for a pre ban magazine. That is fruitless speculation.

What sticks in your craw is the simple fact that all these folks who now say he was crazy "back when" did not seem to think he was crazy enough to get off the street. Until after he started shooting, he was just another small time loser.

The other part that bothers you is that somehow you think if you ban guns they will really be gone, but only a few zealots agree with you.

Prohibition didn't work for booze. Many folks are pretty sure it is not working much better for dope. But YOU, YOU have complete and absolute FAITH that it will work for guns.

Go ask the guy you buy your dope from if you need to pass a background check for him to sell you a gun!!!
