1. I'm not a member
never have been and I don't give a crap about Nugent and the rest of them. Just because I support gun rights does not mean I have anything to do with the NRA, the Republican party, Nazis, Skin heads or any other kind of slime.

15. I don't think you'll get an
argument from a lot of us @ DU or from Edwards, Clark or Kerry.

They each own guns.

I know that Clark is pro-Brady Bill, doesn't like assault weapons for regular folks, but has no designs on people's guns.

Seems reasonable.

Unfortunately, there is never a cessation of fear. One must always live in fear, especially of one's government. The jewel of liberty should always be jealously guarded for fear of it being taken.

With enough "reasonable" gun regulation, what will you use to protect your children from tyranny?

As Ben Franklin said:

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" - Benjamin Franklin, Pennsylvania Assembly November 11, 1755

To shirk the obiligation of firearm ownership is to shirk your personal responsiblity for the protection of yourself and your family, in favor of abdicating that responsibility to someone else.

Too frigging funny for words...

"With enough "reasonable" gun regulation, what will you use to protect your children from tyranny?"
Hilariously, those threatening us with tyranny are also the imbeciles pushing this bogus "gun rights" rubbish. And the gun nuts are quite happy to ignore the threat to liberty as long as they can wave their popguns around (hell, their main complaint is that this unelected drunk isn't tyrannical and racist enough to suit them).

It's sad that you find this amusing, because it implies that you don't understand the seriousness of the situation. If the day finally dawns when the ballot box cannot oust tyrants like Bush, what tool will you use to oust them?

62. "when the ballot box cannot oust tyrants like..."
WHO?

"Florida Gov. Jeb Bush thanked the National Rifle Association Saturday for helping elect his brother president in 2000.
NRA support played a key role in several states, including Florida, where the vote was so close that the U.S. Supreme Court eventually had to settle the matter of disputed ballots, and in Tennessee, home state of George W. Bush's Democratic opponent, Al Gore.
"Were it not for your active involvement, it's safe to say my brother would not be president of the United States," the younger Bush said.
The governor said he and his brother both support the NRA's contention that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which contains "the right to bear arms," is an individual right with few restrictions.
"The sound of our guns is the sound of freedom," said Bush, to thunderous applause from the gun group. "

22. 1963--that wonderful year...
Wonder what gun owners were doing back then?

"In 1963, civil rights activists began an effort to register black voters in Dallas County, Alabama. During 1963 and 1964, although they brought potential voters by the hundreds to the registrar's office in the courthouse in Selma, they were unable to get them registered to vote. In January and February 1965, protests were held in Selma to bring attention to this violation of rights. The protests were met by violence by Sheriff James Clark and his deputies. On February 17, a small civil rights march ended in the shooting of Jimmy Lee Jackson who died from his wounds several days later. The civil rights activists decided to hold a memorial march from Selma to the state capitol in Montgomery on March. 7.
On March 21, the march began again, with federal troops protecting the marchers, and proceeded to Montgomery. In Montgomery, a rally was held on the steps of the state capitol. However, within hours of the end of the march, 4 Ku Klux Klan members shot and killed Viola Liuzzo, a white 39-year-old civil rights volunteer from Detroit, Michigan, who had come to support the Alabama African-Americans. President Lyndon Johnson said, "Mrs. Liuzzo went to Alabama to serve the struggle for justice. She was murdered by the enemies of justice who for decades have used the rope and the gun and the tar and the feather to terrorize their neighbors." "

"Mary Rosh" is old news... tiresome, jaded and pointless. Ever hear of Bellesiles, Lipscomb or Rowan? Of course you have. You have your examples, we have ours... comprehende? Gun control from your perspective is a losing issue; like it or not, that's politics.

As for myself, I'd sure as hell think twice before I jumped up and sp;outed the same rhetoric on any subject as David Duke and John AshKKKroft. Especially when that rhetoric is filled with flat-out lies.

Especially if I found out the KKK, Larry Pratt, Pat Buchanan, Trent Lott, David Horowitz, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, the Aryan Nation, Ted Nugent,, Tom DeLay, Bill Frist, and the American Nazi Party were spouting that rhetoric too, and just about every mainstream member of the party I claimed to belong to was under attack by those folks for their support of the opposite position.

It's a flavor of Guilt By Association: If you happen to agree on one issue with someone who is a scumbag, you must "in bed" with the scumbag.

The possibility that you came to the same conclusion on that one subject as the scumbag independently of the scumbag's writings or speech must be ignored.
