Dove release, gun buyback highlight Martin Luther King celebration
http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2011/01/dove_release_gun_buyback_highl.html

"The Birmingham Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference organized several events for the weekend, including a gun buyback on Saturday morning and youth programs in the afternoon."

Though well intentioned, ironic this takes place in the state that denied MLK a gun permit.

1. Gun Buy-Backs in the U.S. Are Useless.
They are symbolic only, like releasing the doves.

2. Now I know why dove were a little scarce this season...
King as well as Gandhi were firm believers in the right to self-defense, and in fact even saw it as a responsibility.
