Sen. Mike Green ready for debate on gun-free zones (Michigan - Do away with them)
introduces legislation to allow concealed weapons at churches, schools, casinos

LANSING — State Sen. Mike Green said it’s time people “had an honest debate” about the necessity of gun-free zones.

On Tuesday, Green, R-Mayville, introduced legislation to repeal no-carry zones, such as sport stadiums, schools, churches and casinos.

Green said when the original concealed weapons bill was passed 11 years ago, the no-carry zones were put in place to appease those nervous about the law.

But, Green said that violates law-abiding citizens constitutional rights.

“You have the right to carry them on the street, at home, at the grocery story; but when you get to a particular door you can’t go in there with a gun,” Green said. “If it’s constitutional outside the door, why can’t it be constitutional inside.”

1. Most likely the same reason
you can't fire a gun with in the city limits. High density of people makes it dangerous to innocent people when a bad guy or a good guy starts shooting.

3. There are idiots in every state, and Green is one of them.
I weep for our country under this NRA attack.

4. Correct me if wrong, but individual institutions would still be able to say no on their premises.
This is simply about not having a blanket ban on all locations of a certain class. So that for instance, if one church didn't mind people carrying, they could allow it, if another was uncomfortable, they could say no.
