Link to DFA/Howard Dean's contact page- PLEASE email them to abandon the anti gun
Edited on Sun Jan-30-11 12:14 PM by old mark
petition they are circulating online. It is a pointless, potentially disasterous political mistake that will give votes and support to the Right and will achieve absolutely NOTHING to stop crime. Link:

http://www.democracyforamerica.com/contact_messages/new

This is "feel good" nonsense politics at its worst and will have NO positive effect on guns and crime in this country- The FBI's annusl report on guns and crime states EVERY YEAR that therea sre so few guns sold at gun shows and later linked to crime that theu have no significance. Please DO NOT hand the remaidnr of congress over to the GOP in 2012!
Please email DFA to pass that message to them and try to stop this disaster.

Thank you.

10. The NRA routinely supports Democrats who are
pro gun. Harry Reid is an example of that.

15. Just see what the NRA says through it's
spokespeople like Sarah Palin and Board member and spokesperson Ted Nuggent. Not the most sane people in the world.

18. this is a turnaround for the NRA, and hopefully it;s weakened them now
Edited on Sun Jan-30-11 02:47 PM by bettyellen
because it didn;t get the Blue Dogs any help winning elections, or seem to be real popular with their membership. the membership vote overwhelmingly republican, and we shouldn;t bother worrying about them.

14. I'm fairly anti-gun myself....
But even I give credit to the fact that the NRA has stopped being a strictly Republican front group. They've supported quite a few Dems, in increasing numbers of the past couple of years.

I may not like their positions or their beliefs but they are at the very least moving in a distinctly bipartisan direction.

6. You're trying to talk sense.
to anti gun prohibitionists. Many of them have made it quite clear their real aim is either to repeal the Second Amendment or restrict it severely...and damn the consequences to the Democratic party.

7. Agreed. Talking sense to the far left and right always ends up
with the same results. Nothing accomplished.

didn't impress them...

Thanks.

21. Thanks, I was curious. I'm pro-gun-rights, but I'm 100% for item #1
Item #2 is probably good as well, depending on implementation...

20. Another one who wants to sacrifice doing the right thing,
On the altar of political gain.

We've tried that tactic time and again over the past forty years, all it has gotten us was a more and more repressive regime and dangerous society.

22. Because getting some decent health care in this country...
will save far more lives than any "gun control" that will be ineffective and bad law.

Lets just throw that in the crapper....

24. Yea
cause only 10,000 will be murdered by guns, add that to the 40,000 who will die due to inadequate healthcare and its kind of like having Viet-Nam every year.

Fucking progressives know how to spoil a party.
