Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has issued a letter instructing state police to release the names of authorized gun owners in Illinois to the press, the Associated Press is reporting. State police had initially denied the AP's request for a list of Illinois residents with a Firearm Owners Identification card on the grounds that disclosing the names would violate the privacy of gun owners. The wire service explains that police officials have not indicated whether they will comply with Madigan's ruling, and that there are currently Republican-sponsored bills in the Illinois House and Senate that would prohibit disclosing this kind of information.

5. They should also release the names and address's of those...

receiving any form of public assistance, drivers license and registration info, medical records of patients if care is paid for by tax payer/public money,
names of people with restraining orders against them, etc.

and I am for tougher gun control laws, but this is BS if the story is straight here.

But going after lawful gun owners? As Palin would say, "WTF!?"

7. Certainly there are several people here who love this idea...they already believe

gun owners are potential criminals and half wit neanderthals, so why not make our names and addresses public?

Here in PA, a local sheriff was SUED for using the list of those licensed to carry a firearm in his county as a list to mail election material. He lost, both eht election and the lawsuit.

I wonder what plans the anti's here have for us if our names and addresses werer made public...Would they attempt to harrass us in our homes or places of employment?

I do not believe anything is beneath them. They make the teabaggers look honest ane responsible.
