A crazed motorist shot and killed by Long Island cops was "prepped for war" when he opened fire on a volunteer paramedic, police said Wednesday.

Jason Beller, 31 - whose dad, oral surgeon David Beller, has an office on Central Park South - was armed for mayhem and went down firing after crashing his souped-up Ford pickup in Bellmore, L.I., about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Justin Angell, a 20-year-old paramedic with the Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department, responded to the wreck. Expecting to treat the injured driver, Angell walked into an ambush.

"This guy was prepped for war," Nassau County Police Detective Lt. Kevin Smith said of the would-be Rambo. "He wanted to go to war with somebody. He was angry about something."

The crazed gunman who shot an EMT after an accident on Long Island was armed to the teeth with six assault weapons -- and hellbent on carrying out mass murder shortly after having a blowup with his wife, sources told The Post yesterday.

Unemployed crane operator Jason Beller, 31, of Commack blasted EMT Justin Angell in the torso with an SKS AK-47-style rifle Tuesday night after plowing his silver Ford pickup into a pole in Bellmore two hours after the domestic dustup, law-enforcement sources said.

Beller -- son of well-to-do Manhattan oral surgeon David Beller -- was armed with a cache of guns and wore a bandoleer of bullets, cops said. In addition to the AK-47 clone equipped with a green laser sight, he had a Tec-9 semiautomatic, a .357 Magnum, a .32-caliber handgun and two other rifles.

6. "SKS AK-47-style rifle" ... what?!?

SKS is a carbine rifle with an internal 10 shot magazine... it doesn't even have removable magazines or a pistol grip! The SKS also uses a tilt-lock bolt operation and a short stroke system to unlock & cycle the bolt. Also, even true military SKS were not produced with native select fire (full auto) operation.

The AK-47 (and semiauto clones) has a removable 30 round mag, pistol grip, rotating bolt assembly, long stroke piston cycling, and the true military rifle is select fire in nature. Obviously, the american clones are ALL semiauto.

There is almost NOTHING similar about the SKS and the AK-47 other than the cartridge they fire. Honestly, that's like saying a Ruger Mini-14 is similar to the Colt M-16... a completely asinine statement.

It should be fairly easy to establish that the SKS and AK are different designs.

Also, "six assault weapons"? As if we needed more evidence that newspaper hacks will call anything an "assault weapon."

Where I live most of the Dixiecrats left for the Republican Party after the Civil Rights Act was passed. Good riddance.

However, I don't think guns are anywhere near the issue of real civil rights -- although, many here whine and pretend to be victims of discrimination. It is laughable in my opinion, but so is a grown man openly displaying a gun in public.

One of my fondest memories was my sick 70 year old father-in-law (retired military with 25 years and a retired policeman with almost 25 additional years) telling a young man with dual shoulder holsters in a family restaurant that he looked like a "silly fool."

14. NO do nothing guns law is used to fool those most impacted by violence..

the hard truth is that it is FAR easier to pass a do nothing gun law than it is to address disproportional violence in black communities. Gun laws have been statistically shown worthless.

If they worked S Chicago and DC would be safe, like say El Paso Texas.

It is hard to reform drug laws, it is hard to address violence over drug money. Much easier to ban some horse shit feature and then profess to the real victims "look we did something to help you".

It is also hard to address mental illness.

While I dont consider the antis responsible for the continuation of this violence, they are providing an excuse for others not to address it in a realistic manner.

Eventually people will continue to catch on to this and progress will be made towards root cause.

Your opinion on OC is noted. Please take note of the momentum of gun laws in this country and the lack of national party attention. The antis dont have data to back their position, they only wait for important people to be killed to use their bodies as soap boxes.
