2. A small time livestock farmer needs a gun

Cattle and pigs are hard to slaughter with a knife.

I've never had to use my 22 for coyotes or feral dogs. Other mitigations have been effective so far,(Livestock guardian dog, keeping fences in good shape,bringing stock in shelter at night, etc)
but if there were no other way to prevent depredations, I would certainly use a gun.
