Fellow activists, The updated US "Right to carry" map!!
Edited on Sun Mar-06-11 08:03 AM by virginia mountainman
Odds are, it will need to be updated again soon, as Utah, and Maine will most likely go "green".

Keep up the good work!!!

1. Really confusing data presentation, sorry to say
I guess it's showing that there's a trend toward restrictions on right to carry being eliminated.

The slide progression should be slowed so that the viewer can refer to the legend and comprehend. My eyes went back and forth from the legend to the map but the map was flying by and I...need to go to bed already.

I hope this suggestion is not unwelcomed.

2. I did not make the map..
Edited on Sun Mar-06-11 08:41 AM by virginia mountainman
It has been around for YEARS, and as the "landscape" changes, it gets updated. Many activists use it to show just how unpopular Gun Control has become, especially when someone posts tripe, and propaganda that purports to show how "Americans are clamoring for strong Gun Control" from the Brady Campaign, and VPC.

The colors are...

Yellow, "may issue", which basically means you need to "know someone", be a famous person, or be extremely wealthy, to get a permit.

Blue, "Shall issue", which means that they MUST issue a permit, if you meet criteria.

Green, "No permit req", which means if your not a "prohibited person", like a felon, you may carry a hidden gun WITHOUT a permit.

I wonder what happened to all the "blood in the streets" and "wild west" talk over the last 2 decades??? ROFLMAO!!!!

12. Agreed...
But, the next priority should be turning all those yellow states to green at the very least (going blue would be ideal, but that's easier said than done).

10. Palin wouldn't know the first fucking thing about firearms if someone didn't tell her.
She had to ask Levi to teach her to shoot. Besides which, she has no reason to love this map, since she'd rather be looking at Brady Campaign fondly recalling how many Republicans they've gotten elected.

9. Yes, Wikipedia is a bunch of assholes.
what the fuck is with you?

Wiki does not allow it's own research. Do you have a problem with the data compiled by that gun nuttery site? Is there something wrong with it?

Nobody is hitting their site by viewing this image. The image is hosted by Wikipedia.

15. And that makes it false???
Its a visual representation showing the liberalization of right-to-carry laws sweeping the nation over the last 25 years.

Its also indicative of the fact the opposition to the RKBA has been getting rolled for two decades plus.

That map gets posted here all the time. None of the mods seem to have a problem with it.

It only seems to bother those who oppose certain civil liberties.

Also hosted by Wikipedia, it was put together by 2ADems.

Its pretty good, although, I personally prefer the animated GIF in the OP, as it shows the trend of Right to Carry legislation and is more up to date. I'm pretty sure Alabama is "Shall Issue" as well.

40. Also armed with knives, strong muscles, clubs, as well as guns.
In the last two years my small town of 2,000 people has had four murders. Two were by knives, two were by clubs. If those two families had had gun available they might be alive now.

43. Because the data is very clear
People who sign up for CCW permits are easily trackable and provide fantastic data points. We can see from states that provide the information, like Texas, that CCW permit holders are hardly ever involved in crime.

Since CCW permit holders cause virtually no problems, why would they repeal such legislation?
