More Than 60,000 Ohio Concealed Carry Licenses Issued in 2010

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has issued a report indicating that more than 60,000 concealed carry licenses were issued in Ohio in 2010.

According to statistics reported to the Attorney General's office, county sheriffs in Ohio issued 47,337 new licenses and 13,544 renewal licenses in 2010. The number of new licenses was the second highest since licenses were first issued in 2004.

"Since 2004, nearly a quarter of a million Ohioans have received a concealed carry license. My office remains committed to working with county sheriffs in helping eligible Ohioans exercise their rights under the Concealed Carry Law," DeWine said.

At the same site is a link to a county by county report of the number of licenses issued, denied, suspended, and revoked. It is a large PDF file. The number suspended or revoked is a tiny percentage of those issued.

That is a lot of Ohioans exercising their rights, and they vote.

Active License Holders: 461,724. Of those 102,133 were issued in 2010. 22,412 of those new issues were women.

seriously, CCW holders as a group offend less than police officers. Reality is pretty clear on this one.
