Intruder calls 911 & locks himself in bathroom - afraid homeowner had gun
Oregon police say both an intruder and a Portland homeowner phoned 911 to report the same thing: a strange man in a home.

Lt. Kelli Sheffer says the intruder told police he had just broken into a home Monday evening when the owner arrived — and the caller was worried the homeowner might have a gun.

Accompanied by his two German Shepherds, the homeowner found the intruder and asked what he was doing in the house. That's when the stranger locked himself in a bathroom and phoned police.

In this case the German Shepherds were probably as effective as having a gun.

15. Breaking into someone's home...
is a violent act. I won't comment on his train of thought about taking a shower after doing so other than to say it's obvious he wasn't there just to smash and grab.

As far as him just being homeless and needing a shower, give me a break. Most of the homeless people I have known would not do something like that because it would threaten their freedom.

In this instance the story is funny because the crook got what he had coming. Would it have been as funny if the crook had come in, taken a shower, waited for the homeowner, then proceeded to butcher said homeowner in the most unbelievable manner you could imagine? I worked such a case once. We spent weeks looking for the body because all that was left in the house was bits of flesh and most of her blood.

Monsters are real. They walk among us every day and you would never recognize some of them.

Though it's a little lacking on violence for Hollywood's taste.

4. Gets better - dumbass intruder was taking a shower
A man in a Southwest Portland home called 9-1-1 for assistance Monday evening--only the caller was an intruder caught showering as the actual owner arrived home.

According to Portland Police, a trespassing suspect entered a home at the 2700 block of Southwest Rutland Terrace and at some point decided to take a shower in the bathroom.

When the homeowner arrived and confronted the trespasser with his two German Shepherds, the suspect locked the door and called 9-1-1 for help at about 7 p.m.

The suspect said he feared the homeowner might have a gun.

5. This sounds like a Jerry Clower tale
If the homeowner had turned the dogs loose, the burglar may have said. "Just shoot in amongst us. One of us has gotta have some relief."

17. Or dropped it and shot a neighbor child
that's why guns are useless.

Instead he should have called the cops who immediately would have swooped in to save him using . . . . uh . . . harsh words I guess.

13. Maybe, and shooting those dogs in a strangers house
may have ended up his last act before being shot dead. But it is a happy ending, to bad the dog did not bite him in the ass.

30. You are reading that wrong
The time under "Arrest date" is the time he was physically placed in custody at the scene. The time under booking date is the time he was booked into the jail facility. At least that's the way it works here. It does show "released" but not based on the time as you read it.

35. Update - and the homeowner was a woman
"I just broke into a house, and the owners came home," he frantically tells the emergency operator. "I think they have guns."

With the sound of her dogs barking in the background, MacKenzie can be heard demanding to know who is in her shower, and Chapek shouts his real name through the door. He also claims that he was "kidnapped."

Having just returned from the grocery story, MacKenzie then retreats back outside to the front porch to place her own 911 call. In the ensuing conversation, she complains of being cold and suggests she might run back in to retrieve her coat, but the dispatcher tells her to stay put and wait for police.

Officers arriving on the scene moments later took Chapek into custody without incident. The police report says nothing else seemed to be amiss in the home and that Chapek told officers "he was taking a shower and nothing more."

39. Daily update from my Oregon correspondent
"""'it was something like 4 hours after he was released from jail before he decided to take an undocumented shower in the home of someone else and was released without charges . Well yesterday he went to a BMW dealership, stole a car, went across state lines about 80 miles north of Portland and decided to steal a shopping cart full of groceries from a WalMart when he was arrested again, This time it wasn't Portland so he'll probably actually be charged with something. """
///////////////////

More updates as this develops . I sure hope they keep swishin' him around in the water real goo and get him oxygenated , before they let him go . His lactic acid levels have to be dangerously high .
