DENVER — A concealed-weapons change favored by gun-rights activists and moran Republicans was rejected Tuesday by a committee in the state's Democratic Senate.

The measure would have made Colorado the fifth state not to require permits for carrying concealed weapons. The measure, which passed Colorado's Republican House last month with a handful of Democratic supporters, would not have changed who may carry concealed weapons.

Instead, the bill would have removed the requirement to obtain a permit, saving gun owners from having to take safety courses and undergo a background check before being allowed to carry concealed weapons.

The optional permit plan divided Colorado sheriffs. Lawmakers on the Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee heard from a rural sheriff who supported the change, and another sheriff who opposed the idea.

If I read it right it didn't take away the requirements for a permit it just made it legal for people who met the requirements anyway(to include the training requirement and no alcohol related arrests in the last for years) to carry w/out a a permit.

Our illegal mayors against gun alumni govenor wouldn't have signed the bill anyway

So, they'll tweak it and try again and sooner or later it will pass jpak

Then those rulings trickled down to local/state legislature & lawsuit. We dont care who is president... he doesnt make or interperet laws. We aint goin nowhere.

Freedoms, once recognized, are VERY hard to rescind. Just ask any anti-rights activist on the losing side of their issue (most are still in denial so they'll be hard to find).
