Libertarians seek to end unlawful gun ban in Boca Raton's City Hall
http://www.examiner.com/libertarian-in-west-palm-beach/libertarians-want-boca-city-hall-sign-changed-or-removed

The moran Libertarian Party of Palm Beach County has sent a letter to the City of Boca Raton concerning a sign which can be found at the entrance to Boca Raton's City Hall stating "NO WEAPONS ALLOWED" which is in direct conflict of Florida statute informing the public one is not permitted to bring a firearm into City Hall. Florida statute says a person with a concealed weapons permit is allowed to enter any municipal building, without restriction, so long as there is no business meeting (such as a city council meeting) happening at the same time. The Libertarians seem to be suggesting the City of Boca Raton is unlawfully banning a citizen to bring a weapon into City Hall - a direct violation of state law. Florida Statute 790.06 Paragraph 12 is very specific in allowing a concealed weapons permit holder to carry a weapon into City Hall and Florida Statute 790.33 inhibits municipalities from violating that right.

Libertarian Party of Palm Beach County chairman moran, John Thompson said today, "Ending the confusion over the rights of the people will make the City Hall of Boca Raton a safer place to conduct the people's business." Mr. Thompson mentioned they can make a simple change to the sign to comport with state law and mentioned similar efforts have proven successful throughout the state and include Tri-Rail. In 2009, Tri-Rail had similar signs posted stating weapons were not permitted on board their trains and the signs were challenged by a Florida resident. The signs were then changed to comply with state law.

In their letter to the mayor, city council and the city manager, the Party cites Florida Statute 790 and suggested in their letter, should the City not remove or change the sign within 45 days from today, they are prepared to file a Petition Seeking an Administrative Determination and/or file a complaint against the city in state court.

10. The issue is integrity, when you edit the cited source and do not clearly label it, it labels you
as having no integrity or credibility

9. we seem to have this same problem
in Pa. All over the state towns pass gun laws, even though state law says they cannot pass any laws concerning guns, unless its a discharge ordinance. Then they are willing to fight it, guess they didnt read the fine print that shows everyone who voted for it commits a misdemeanor, whether they win or not. Which they never do. Ive carried into my own city hall to attend a meeting.

A very pro gun post from jpak.
