A 67-year-old Ansonia man used terms like "or else," "better not" and "woman out in Arizona" when urging his state representative to vote against a proposed ban on large-capacity ammunition magazines, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

"I'm not even gonna say the state… Southwest, you know what happened out there? It's gonna happen here," John H. Matika said in a voicemail message to state Rep. Linda Gentile, a Democrat from Ansonia, according to the warrant.

Police took his comment as a reference to the Jan. 8 shootings in Arizona that killed six and critically injured U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Police said the alleged shooter, Jared Loughner, used a 33-round magazine.

Matika, who was arrested March 31 and charged with second-degree harassment, was arraigned Friday in community court.
