MARYLAND HEIGHTS • A Pattonville High School student brought a gun clip with empty shell casings in it to school Wednesday, according to district officials.

The student later struck an administrator while being interviewed about the incident, according to school officials. The student was then taken into police custody and is now in juvenile detention.

No threats were made to other students or staff, officials said.

Superintendent Michael Fulton said the school would heighten security procedures as a precautionary measure.

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A 5th grade student, who admitted he brought a loaded gun with him on a school bus for protection after getting threatened by two students the day before, was taken into custody Friday morning.

According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, the 10-year-old Baton Rouge boy had a loaded .25 caliber semi-auto handgun.

Deputies said the Wildwood Elementary student had the gun on an East Baton Rouge Parish school bus around 7:40 a.m. when other students saw it and told an official once the bus reached the bus transfer point on North Sherwood Forest Boulevard.

Authorities said the gun was found in the boy's backpack when he was apprehended by deputies at the site. They added there were five live rounds in the clip.

2. schools and guns
Puts me in a strange position these days - kids can tell me they want to kill someone or themselves but I can't really ask if there are guns at home because when I do 50% of the time Mom or Dad (or whoever is currently living with one of the parents,) calls and complains about a violation of their privacy. Also, the ones sent to me for bullying and anger issues - why are they the ones who also have guns at home, are taken to shooting ranges on the weekends by Grandpa and wear camo to school? I am writing this with 35 years of experience - quite interesting. Obviously I am the only one who sees any kind of connect. I must be the one not grounded ... now - I will admit, the younger ones do tend to attempt suicide by hanging themselves with a belt or other rope, whereas after 12 or so, it is usually a gun. So - there probably is not a connect and therefore none of my business. Just my imagination working overtime.

4. CLUTCH THE PEARLS!! It's a magazine with empty brass in it.
No gun danger from the first incident. Gross overreaction from the administration.

Second incident was already illegal and no one here nor does the NRA seek to make it legal. Do you want to make it doubleplus illegal? Since several laws were already broken do you think that more laws would have stopped it?
