Shoot & bomb that goddamn litter to the stone fucking age, shoot all the litter and let God sort it out, GUNNER HEP LITTER IN THE OPEN IDENTIFIED UP FIRE ON THE WAY....target , cease fire. The only good litter is dead litter.
All these links go to the TEABAGGERS that started this very stupid 'political' act. Not connected to any DU folks who spend their time on this forum but a wake up call.

Open carry may be necessary at times but when it's not it is just plain tacky.

Civilization Ho, How long has it been since we left Goshen?

This isn't a dig on Dems, I hate both major parties equally, but when you start criticizing trash clean-up because of the politics of the people doing it...

Oy.

Sorry.

Your post was nothing but ad hominem tripe. Typical (for the guns forum) anti-rural ad hominem tripe at that.

As a rural person, born, raised, and current, I take offense whenever rural folks get slandered with names like "Bubba." You don't know SHIT about the people in that picture, and neither do I. The difference is, I withhold judgment.

Also, that website says NOTHING about the social acumen of the individual members of the group.

In short...

You lose.

23. Here is the tripe
You didn't read much before you posted or you would have known that this was a teabag group you defend. Counter to the goals of this site.

I come from the country

I was not the poster who named these people/ reread the other comments and see who did

You used socially aware in a comment that I responded to.

In the long run we all lose in a society like that.

I would like to recommend a book for you.

Armed America: Portraits of Gun Owners in Their Homes

It's just a coffee table book that you may find interesting. It is neither pro nor anti gun. It is just a simple collection of photos and a little one liner answer of the subject as to why they own a gun. To me it was quite charming and you may be surprised at the diversity of the photography subjects.

They're Democrats. They just don't know it yet. The reason they don't know is because people who are more interested in elitist partisan snark than social progress sneer at them in threads like this. It's embarrassing for the rest of us who don't view our ideology as an exclusive country club.

Snark about policy. Snark about injustice. Snark about politicians. Never lambast people doing good works. You'll notice the usual suspects have appeared to offer insults about the way they look, their intelligence, or to flog the same tired juvenile litany of insults. All the while the richest one percent of the country laughs all the way to the bank. You can always hire one half of the poor to kill the other half.

They disagree with them on many huge points...
Anti War
Non Interventionist
Pro Victim's Rights
Ending Prohibition on Drugs
Environmental Protection
Against Censorship
Pro Immigration
Privacy Rights
Etc...

They are sort of out there, not liking what either the Dems or the Repubs do. They share some common views with both. They are totally for certain things that us Dems are all for. But they are also all for other things that the Repubs are for. But I don't see them as similar to the Tea Party. They just have a handful of similar views.

45. They are for the environment and are pro-immigration.
They do agree that we should not be selling our national parks and forests to the logging industry, that these lands should be protected. I just strongly disagree with their viewpoint of how to do it. Their idea is privatization. Very bad... I think that the government should be in the business of protecting the land, not in the practice of selling it to the highest bidder.

As for immigration. From their website...
"The fundamental choice before us is whether we redouble our efforts to enforce existing immigration law, whatever the cost, or whether we change the law to match the reality of a dynamic society and labor market.

Low-skilled immigrants cross the Mexican border illegally or overstay their visas for a simple reason: There are jobs waiting here for them to fill, especially in Texas and other, faster growing states. Each year our economy creates hundreds of thousands of net new jobs — in such sectors as retail, cleaning, food preparation, construction and tourism — that require only short-term, on-the-job training.

At the same time, the supply of Americans who have traditionally filled many of those jobs — those without a high school diploma — continues to shrink. Their numbers have declined by 4.6 million in the past decade, as the typical American worker becomes older and better educated.

Yet our system offers no legal channel for anywhere near a sufficient number of peaceful, hardworking immigrants to legally enter the United States even temporarily to fill this growing gap. The predictable result is illegal immigration.

In response, we can spend billions more to beef up border patrols. We can erect hundreds of miles of ugly fence slicing through private property along the Rio Grande. We can raid more discount stores and chicken-processing plants from coast to coast. We can require all Americans to carry a national ID card and seek approval from a government computer before starting a new job.

Or we can change our immigration law to more closely conform to how millions of normal people actually live.

Crossing an international border to support your family and pursue dreams of a better life is not an inherently criminal act like rape or robbery. If it were, then most of us descend from criminals. As the people of Texas know well, the large majority of illegal immigrants are not bad people. They are people who value family, faith and hard work trying to live within a bad system.

When large numbers of otherwise decent people routinely violate a law, the law itself is probably the problem. To argue that illegal immigration is bad merely because it is illegal avoids the threshold question of whether we should prohibit this kind of immigration in the first place."

Edited on Tue Apr-19-11 05:21 PM by Hoyt

Next time I get in an argument with right wing bigots, I'll use that. Thanks.

Of course, they'll just point me to Rand Paul's senate site which says"

"I do not support amnesty. Those who come here should respect our laws. I support legal immigration and recognize that the country has been enriched by those who seek the freedom to make a life for themselves.
Immigrants should meet the current requirements, which should be enforced and updated. I realize that subsidizing something creates more of it, and do not think the taxpayer should be forced to pay for welfare, medical care and other expenses for illegal immigrants. Once the subsidies for illegal immigration are removed, the problem will likely become far less common.

"I support local solutions to illegal immigration as protected by the 10th amendment. I support making English the official language of all documents and contracts.

"Millions crossing our border without our knowledge constitutes a clear threat to our nation’s security. I will work to secure our borders immediately. My plans include an electronic fence, with helicopter stations to respond quickly to breaches of the border. Instead of closing military bases at home and renting space in Europe, I am open to the construction of bases to protect our border."

Appears it is not universal.

47. One problem with the U.S. political system is that it has been Binary for far too long.
People who've never experienced other democratic societies first hand don't understand that in multi-party systems, you have far more overlap between parties, and not the diametric opposites that have been the practical, if not the theoretical, effect of the U.S. system.

The fact that we are now on the cusp of having as many as 6 or 8 (possibly 9) differing political parties confuses the unholy fuck out of a lot of die-hards on all sides. "other" = "enemy" to them, with no possiblility of "potential ally, even if only in limited areas".

If the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Would the enemy of my enemy's enemy be my friend or my enemy?

Or, what if my enemy is my occasional friend, would his enemy be my friend or my enemy some of the time or all of it?

So we are left with a new adage in our modern age of politics. The enemy of your enemy's enemy, is your enemy as long as that enemy is an enemy of your enemy if they don't support your stance where your enemy is against it.
