Sheriff: Neurosurgeon Pointed Gun At Son
A well-known Salinas neurosurgeon was arrested after he threatened his children with a loaded gun, sheriff's deputies said Tuesday.

Christopher Carver, 59, of Salinas, became embroiled in a heated argument with his wife Monday night, the sheriff said.

The couple’s two children were in the room, “causing traumatic mental suffering,” Monterey County Sheriff's Deputy Ja Crivello said.

During the verbal fight, Carver pointed his 9mm handgun at his son, Crivello said.

1. Neurological problems?
I assume that's the point you wanted to make since you didn't make one?

2. Nope - just that sometimes we have idiots with guns

no matter the education or socio-economic level. Stupid for a guy like this to have such a temper to do this to his family. And I'd bet he's treated scores of gunshot wounds to the brain.

He may have just thrown his career away.

Maybe part of a just sentence would be to make him treat patients lacking insurance.

3. Anyone who has a domestic disturbance arrest should lose their guns.

6. And their right to vote. I agree. Arrested on a domestic (not convicted - just arrested) and
you loose all your civil rights.

9. Temporarily - why not until things cool down
And give spouse/family members time to file PFA.

10. Some of the things I've seen covered under "domestic disturbance"....
were so petty as to be truely absurd.

I don't think I want police deciding that for me.

13. Look this guy supposedly pointed his gun at family members
In this case I have no problem with police taking till all is sorted out. Don't want to lose gun - then don't bring it out during argument.

16. That's why I said "some things".
It seemed obvious to me that this case went a little beyond mere "disturbance".

14. Lose a right without being convicted? Really?
That borders on fascism, you know.

15. So when someone is charged with armed robbery
Edited on Wed May-11-11 04:06 PM by RamboLiberal
You are going to tell the cops to give them back their gun? They haven't been convicted.

12. "cache" = "one gun more than Hoyt thinks they should have"
Oddly, we've yet to get an actual number on what exactly a cache might be....
