Martha Stewart - Judge Dismisses Securities Fraud Charge
Judge drops most serious charge against Martha Stewart
2/27/2004 11:26 AM
By: Associated Press

(New York-AP) -- A judge in New York has dismissed the
securities fraud charge against Martha Stewart.

The judge had made it clear she had doubts about the validity of that charge -- which carried more prison time than any other charge in the case.

Jury deliberations are scheduled to begin next week on the
remaining charges against Stewart and her former stockbroker.

The securities fraud count accused Stewart of deceiving
investors in her own company -- Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia --by lying about why she sold her shares of ImClone stock.

The four other charges against Stewart are still intact. They
are conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and two counts of lying to
investigators.

1. Good!
that charge was absurd. The idea that the government coudl charge someone with stcok fraud for proclaiming their own innocence realted to an entirely separate stock was ridiculous and opened a HUGE pandora's box.

4. I'm pretty sure there was a gun involved someplace...
she was probably selling ImClone stock as a front for her blackmarket, interstate gun smuggling racket.

3. OK. Now that the securities fraud is off the table, can somebody tell me
1. What Stewart allegedly conspired to do? Commit a legal stock transaction?

2. How Stewart "obstructed justice". By denying that her legal stock transaction was illegal.

3. How did Stewart lie to investigators by telling the truth. BTW, was she under oath when she made these allegedly false statements.

4. How does this "trial" differ from a witch hunt? (no pun intended).
