DU Gun Owners: What is your favorite gun you own?
Edited on Mon Apr-05-04 02:42 PM by galadrium
Mine would have to be my HK USPc .40. Lots of good features, concealable, reliable, and looks very bad-ass.

that was made in 1927. My great grandfather bought it and my dad received after he passed away. That gun has never missed a season since 27.

19. I just retired mine 2 years ago...
it is number L8XX...one of the first 1000 light twelves ever made. I retired it because it was just too damned nice to shoot anymore. It still is the best pointing shotgun I have ever had to draw a bead with. That humpback just catches your eye, making aiming instinctive and natural.

14. I own four hand guns, two rifles and a shot gun.
The hand guns are: A CZ-100 with a laser sight. A FEG Hi-Power copy that I fitted with Pachmayr grips and a recoil buffer. A Browning .380 DBA and a Berretta model 21-A. Of these I like the FEG Hi-Power copy the best.

The rifles I own are: A CETME in 308 Win and an old Mossberg .22 caliber semi auto. I've had the Mossberg since I was a kid. It's old and was unreliable even when new. I like the CETME but I'm not married to it.

The shotgun is a Saiga .20ga. A neet gun based on the AK mechanism. It was cheep and I think is a great buy.

16. Own a Glock 9 mm but would prefer a revolver; it just seems to
feel better to me, somehow more solid, when shooting. Also, the Glock sometimes jams ammo, don't know why.

you must be good with that s/s if you're going to use it for sporting clays. Me, I've always liked the single sighting plane of the o/u.

Old habits are hard to break. I still have the Smith it was a gift from my Grand Father. As far as being a good shot, I've got tons of quail on my place that might argue that point.

22. .357 Ruger Service Six Police Issue

Simple, effective; I like a revolver because it minimizes the chances of jamming or misfire.

Loaded, of course, and ready if needed.

30. I only own four guns - three of them are favorites!!!
I get the most use out of my Browning BPS 12ga. 28" barrel, plus a Hastings rifled barrel with Bushnell scope. I've got this gun in my hand most every weekend from September to February.

Marlin 336 30-30 with 2-10x scope on see-thru mounts. Actually, I'm going to the shop to pick this one up tomorrow. Gonna be next years deer rifle, I don't wanna hunt with slugs no more.

And then there's Winona, my Springfield XD-9. I basically took a $400 pistol and dumped another $400 into it. Hard-chromed, competition trigger job (pending), aftermarket guide rod assembly, PSI adjustable sights. Sweet goddamn gun - eats everything I feed it without a hiccup, accurate, absolutely 100% reliable - no mechanical failures whatsoever, ever.

38. Oh, yeah
You can get Bar-sto match barrels for it, Springfield's custom shop will do barrel and trigger work, I know a guy who's making stainless guide rods to replace the stock captive spring assembly. And any sight that'll fit a Sig 226 wil fit an XD, same dovetail.

Shit, you oughtta see Rob Leatham's XD... (!) {I haven't, BTW, but I'm told...}

I'll send you a PM with a link to a message board that supports the XD. I don't wanna post it here because...well...we don't even allow political discussions on most of the site, it's just about the XD's!

Very well made, very reliable and it pisses off the anti-gun zealots.

Come September, I add the bayonet mount and make it a wmd. :)

40. Dad's 308
50's vintage, Winchester lever action. As accurate as just about anything out today, up to 300yds, with open sights!

1 inch groups at 150 yds, 165gr factory loads. No rest, just kneeling position. Smoked my cousins 300 Weatherby, and his $600 scope.

Not bad

41. Well if I had to pick one
it would be my Glock 20.

Controllable, high capacity, lots of power. This is an average size auto pistol that will take game up to and including black bear if need be.

Now if the big manufacturers would start making some .45 Winchester Magnums...
