Teen Boredom Breeds Drug Use
Boredom and a wad of cash can lead young Americans to substance abuse, according to a Columbia University survey released Tuesday.

The study also found that students at smaller schools and those attending religious schools are less likely to abuse narcotics and alcohol.

Young people ages 12 to 17 who are frequently bored are 50 percent likelier than those not often bored to smoke, drink, get drunk and use illegal drugs, said the study by the university's National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse.

LOL religous schools less drugs and alcohol. LOL! That's like saying less sex going on too. Denial! At least not when I was in school!

2. How about restoring art and music?
Not only are they well documented as improving performance in other subjects, they provide the kiddies with the need to practice. In this way, they're very cost effective.

Kids with parents who are unable or unwilling to give them these things outside of school will just have to resign themselves to having bored children who turn to drugs.

Luckier are the parents with children whose talents run to football and other intramural sports. Those are not cost effective, but they'll never be cancelled.

4. Not true of my religious high school!
At least in the 1970's

They are right about the boredom, however, you don't need the "wad of cash"

6. No kidding?
So maybe cutting back on intramural sports in middle schools is a bad idea?
