Man dies after deputies jolt him with Taser stun guns

ORLANDO, Fla. - A 29-year-old man died after he was subdued with at least two jolts from deputies' Taser stun guns.

Alfredo Diaz died early Sunday morning while in the custody of Orange County deputies who said they had to restrain him because of his erratic behavior.

The exact cause of death was unknown pending an autopsy, said Capt. Bernie Presha.

Deputies were called to Diaz's home by his brother, who said Diaz was taking off his clothes, running through the streets and shouting.

I saw a story on a sixteen year old kid last night where the kid charged police with a knife. His mother said that if they didn't have the tazers that they would have shot him.

3. Tazers could have been used where I live

A woman who was with her kids at sunset in a park saw a man expose himself to her children. She called the cops and when the officer arrived, approached him. Apparently, the man was masturbating and was startled by the officer. The individual pulled out mace and sprayed it at the cop. The cop fired his gun in return killing the man.

If the cop had a tazer, the situation would not have been as ugly as it was that day.

You're right, but at that point the officer has no idea what the person's intentions are.

If you pepper spray a cop, you shouldn't be surprised if he shoots you. Especially if you're masturbating in a park.

6. A couple years ago in Minnesota we had a case

where the cop, in a scuffle with a known mentally ill person reached for his taser and grabbed his service revolver. I don't recall all the particulars, but, I believe the guy died.

The argument was that the cop couldn't feel the difference between the two - similar weight, similar grip. He was acquitted. The case has resulted in changes in the weapons themselves and the wear and care of the taser - at least locally.

As for this one - let the ME do the work and figure out what actually killed the guy.
