Plus, a recap of this week's news and events.  CSGV is curious as to why the words "assault weapons" and "Columbine" never crossed VP Cheney's hypnotically asymmetrical lips as he keynoted the NRA convention...
This week marked the fifth anniversary of the worst school shooting in American history: the April 20, 1999 Columbine High School massacre which left 15 dead and 23 wounded.  Coincidentally (or not so coincidentally, given the NRA's past callousness), the Columbine anniversary fell just as the National Rifle Association was wrapping up its annual love fest in Pittsburgh, PA.   
Vice President Dick Cheney keynoted the NRA convention, and (surprise!) used his address to attack John Kerry.   Not surprising really.  When's the last time Cheney or his boss had anything substantive to say about his own record? 
Notably missing from the Veep's remarks was the fact that Cheney and his boss share the exact same supportive position on the assault weapons ban as Bill Clinton and Al Gore.  But when Al Gore voiced support for the assault weapons ban, he got millions of gun lobby dollars in false attacks thrown at him.  And Dick Cheney?  For supporting the assault weapons ban, Dick Cheney got... invited to keynote the NRA's annual meeting!"
