1. Oh, at first I thought
I was for Heston's cold dead hands.

Actually, it's a pretty clever idea for a raffle, not clever enough to get me to join, but clever.

7. Back before my nervous breakdown in 2000.
Edited on Sun Jul-18-04 01:05 AM by JonathanChance
Back when I could trust myself with a gun and I was an avid hunter, a WWII era 30.06 M1 Garand was my dream deer rifle.

I was using a Ruger .44 Magnum Carbine, couldn't be beat at close range, but at over 100m, it was practically useless. (Not to mention I couldn't buy ammo for it because I was under 21 because it was classified as "handgun ammunition".) I envied my dad's bolt-action .270, at least he had a chance at those long shots.

3. Does the winner have to pry the rifle from his cold dead hands?
Or can they take it while they're still warm?

5. Damn!
I knew pre-bans were/are commanding a premium price, but $25,000.00?!?!
(no mention of how many hi-cap mags come with it).

I think I'll pass on this one for now.

10. Is that side fed or is it just happy to see me?
It looks like it feeds from the top - which would make sighting impossible. I'm sure it must feed from the side and the pic creates an optical illusion for me. ?

11. Nope, that is a top feed.
It's a squad cover automatic weapon. You don't need an overly clear picture of the target. I don't remember how much is obscured off hand, but the magazine does most certainly interfere with the LOS.

12. odd
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

so, with this model we would discourage folks from actually aiming? Seems to fly in the face of the squeeze and spray ideas often debunked here on J/PS. I always thought, from what I learned here, that full auto was a waste - aim at a pack and hit nothing. Yet here we have something with its own charming name belying the idea that you would never actually use full auto except when doing some high octane plinking. Squad Cover Automatic indeed.

15. Ok, so in essence its a repro
tailored to me meet today's market contraints. Was the Bern Machine Gun full auto? How do you aim in semi-auto with a rooster plume of a magazine blocking the sight? As always, I find the technical information fascinating.

14. Or, you know,
maybe the sights are offset so the magazine isn't in the way.

21. I blame people who play
airsoft and video games. You go searching for gun stuff and come up with lots of crap about Counterstrike and Airsoft guns. It's very annoying.
