Shooting guns made me break out!!! |
|
I went to the range yesterday, and shot some BIG guns (so big I didn't think they'd let us shoot them, but the range said OK.) I shot one rifle that weighed SEVENTY pounds unloaded. It didn't feel like the recoil was that bad, but firing a single round moved me and the gun back 8 inches to a foot, and I was firing from a prone position with the gun on a bipod. It was MUCH larger than a .50 BMG, with all that's included with that statement. The muzzle blast was incredible. It felt like all the air was sucked away, and then blasted back at you, along with all kinds of dirt and debris. On the way home, my scalp itched, and I found a piece of gravel in my hair about the size of a pencil eraser that was put there by the muzzle blast. I woke up today and my entire face was covered with tiny blisters. I'm at something of a loss. I'm not sure if it's a result of "powder tattooing" or what. I just know that I look like I'm 15 again!!! :)
Just thought I'd share that with you!!! :)

this was a 20mm Vulcan single shot rifle, one of only a handful of them that are registered in the country. It's built on a WWII Russian antitank rifle action. It's not mine, but I got to shoot it!!! :) BTW, once was enough!!!
